Warren says a lotta things. **** him. Joe C was right to go for the RJ fight instead of Pavlik imo. Bigger fight and probably bigger $. Many keep sayin Roy's too past it to win but I see him beatin Joe before I see Kelly doin it.

Warren Say Joe Calzaghe Should Have Fought Pavlik

Do I honestly believe Tarver would have risked fighting joe in 03/04? and risked his big payday against RJJ et al? You might not rate Calzaghe but the boxing world sure the hell does and has for years.
The boxing world opened their eyes to Joe in '06 - 9 years after won his world title. Before Lacy, he was beating bums.
As for Lacy, he had 20 pro fights and hadn't beaten one good name on his record. He was all hype. And that was enough for Joe to be the underdog in his own backyard with his own people evern though he had been champ for 9 years with 40+ fights.
A prime Tarver puts Calzaghe to sleep. This ain't no Bryan Mitchell or Evans Salem rubbish.

What you mean is that the US boxing world opened their eyes to Joe in 06.

Yeah, all fighters have their easy fights, of course, but they also have their career defining fights. It's better to beat a somebody rather than a bobody and even though Hopkins has hid his share of easy fights he also has a KO win over a 37-0 Glen Johnson (a guy who Calzaghe ducked twice), he also a KO win over middle-weight champion Felix Trinidad who was pound-for-pound the best at the time, he also has a dominating win over Tarver after jumping from 160 to 175 - 2 weight divisions, he also has a win over Pavlik (another fighter Calzaghe ducked), he knocked Oscar De La Hoya who was a weight class below him for several years, he beat Winky at 170 - Joe has talked about fighting Winky at 168 for yearrrrs, I'm sure it would've been ok with the Brits for Joe to beat him at 168 but somehow Hopkins gets criticism for a win over Winky at 170 - 2lbs above 168. No way Joe beats Winky. Winky hits harder according to Hopkins and unlike Joe, Winky actually has one of the best defences in boxing. Man, the list goes on. The fights Hopkins "lost" could've went either way, hence one his losses to Taylor was split as was the Calzaghe fight.

Calzaghe had offered Johnson a fight, the offer was unacceptable because Johnson would have had to come down in weight too much to take the offer seriously.

Joe's biggest wins are Chris Eubank. Shot, at the end of his career, knocked out twice after facing Joe before retiring. Then you have Jeff Lacy. 20 pro fights all built on hype, not one good name on his record. Forget great, not one good name. Then Kessler. 40+ fights. He beat Siaca and Beyer for his titles. Who? Then Calzaghe's biggest fight - a 43 year old Bernard Hopkins - a split decision - a fight that could've went either way.

No, don't lie and talk horse-****. A few of my people over in the UK had bought tickets for this fight - 16,000 were sold - then Calzaghe pulled out (twice). His excuses were a) a bad back and b) the flu
It cost Warren $100,000 because Johnson wanted money before he started training for the second time because he said he didn't trust "*****" Calzaghe.
