Hamed was still too small IMO. I don't think that a fighter should be criticised for not fighting someone who was a weight division above him, especially with the height and reach disadvantage involved.

I'll eventually vote for Naz, but didn't select him this year. There are too many fighters on the ballot that deserve to go in ahead of him

Since it was mentioned in this thread... Gatti, while one of my all-time favorite fighters, will never get my vote. There's to making the HoF than just being in great fights.

Those who'll vote for him factor in contribution and intangibles are hypocrites for dismissing Hamed who opened the door for featherweights/lower weight fighters to finally make some real coin, and not go completely neglected by HBO and the likes.

A win over Barrera or even Juan Manuel Marquez would've went a long way in solidifying his chances, but he still beat four other active titlists/champions during his run, including Vazquez for the lineal title. Only due to boxing politics did Naz not beat Bernard Hopkins out in terms of completely unifying a division.

The Barrera loss and his subsequent departure doesn't sit pretty, and perhaps is the difference (for the time being) between his getting elected and remaining on the outside looking in. But I have to laugh at those who dismiss him outright.

Unfortunately - in this case - Jake is the only person I concede knows more boxing than I do. However I still wouldn't vote for Hamed in the Hall. However, I agree - no way does Gatti get in.
