It never ceases to amaze me how so many Fraudgarito fans seem to find an excuse for Tony losing that fight. Didnt Tony start slow with Cotto? Wasn't Cotto hitting him with 4 punch combinations easily up until the 6th round? Margarito won didnt he? And didnt he start fast with Golden Johnson and Kermit Cintron? It's like you all are saying Tony just stood there till the 7th or 8 round not throwing anything. He lost the fight because he faced the better man.

And so what Williams lost a DECISION to Quintana. Unlike Fraudgarito, when Williams lost the DECISION to Quintana, he went back and blew Quintana out in 45 seconds. KO. Fraudgarito who lost a decision to Williams is ONLY making excuses and wants to fight a guy thats past his prime and struggled with Mayorga (Mosley), that has no interest in fighting him and looking for dudes 3-4 weight classes under him in Pacquiao(De La Hoya), or a guy he stopped (Cotto).

so since you are a boxing scribe as you put it you must be aware of the petition Tony and his team made to be put into the #1 slot right after the fight right? If so then you must also be aware of Dan and PWill's team to make an optional defense instead right?

Can someone explain to me what boxing has come to....Williams and his camp keep saying they couldn't find anyone in the 147 division that was willing to fight him for the title......I thought there was a ranking system whereby guysare ranked and the goal of these fighters is to get a championship title opportunity....so I"m to assume that the WBO has a fighters ranked from 1-10 and the mandatory contender said "no way", and what happens the WBO stands by and doesn't force Williams to defend his title? We've all read articles here on this site, where Clottey has called out Williams for a unification fight, what happened to that.....Seems Williams's group had a date of Nov 27 where he had to defend the title.....He takes a fight against Verno Philips, who in my estimation will be a easy opponent for Williams....If Williams is so interested in taking/making big fights, and he's willing to fight at 154, why didn't he pursue and call out VERNON FORREST!!!

Knowing Williams personally and having trained with him and interviewed him for several boxing websites which I will not name here, I can answer these questions for you:

1. Williams mandatory didnt want the fight. Williams was scheduled to make a mandatory defense of his title against Micheal Jennings, and Jennings backed out giving Williams an optional defense against Andy Kolle. This is why the WBO as of yet has not stripped him for not defending his title. The WBO cant FORCE Jennings to fight for the title. He dropped one slot below Cotto. Has Cotto said anything about fighting for Williams title? There is another mandatory that cant be made. Under Jennings in the 3 slot is Mosley. Mosley wants to fight Margarito. After that are a bunch of people none of us know. Are we to be upset because the big names and P4P fighters dont want to fight him?

2. Gossen offered Margarito a career high payday of $4 million. More then Pavlik got paid for fighting Hopkins, and more then he got for fighting Lockett, and taylor both times. Margarito passed on the offer. He has made an open invitation for Arum to contact Haymen and Goosen to make the fight right with Clottey here on the site http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=16194

3. Forrest wants his dream fight with Oscar or to fight Shane a third time. You can find no where on the net where Forrest has expressed interest in fighting PW. Certain fighters are looking for a payday, not something to prove.

As someone said in an earlier post, I think it's good to see someone saying they are the best and trying to back it up. You all are gettign upset because he is saying who he wants to fight. But what fighter is saying they want to fight him?

#2 is flawed. The team was never presented with any offer from Dan. If Dan really was serious about this offer then why didn't Dan go to the team as well in making the rematch happen? All he said was he offered it to Bob and that was it. I know the team and Tony very well (I know George and Paul as much as a Cali beat guy can) and they never received a call from Dan at all. Now you will say "why should a promoter ask the team to make the fight when his promoter won't" but there is a case history of this between the two parties or do you forget? How do you think the first fight was made? Bob said no you are to fight Cotto and sign a new contract, Tony balked and turned his attention to Williams and Goossen. Deal was made but Bob threatened to sue, the went to Puerto Rico, the WBO said Bob had no case and the fight went forward. You mean to tell me it was okay to do it then but not now? Dan is talking even George admitted as much when I talked to him at the presser they had a while back

also IMO Dan is talking again. He knows that Bob is mad at them for the way the Pavlik negotiations went down and now he is saying that Bob should call them if they want to make a Clottey fight? He knows Bob will ignore it.

People aren't getting upset, what they're doing is criticising Williams for suggesting that he's a better fighter than Bernard Hopkins.

There are still good fights out there for kelly. williams is a good fighter, but takes too many punches. williams would be a good fight, but i would have to go with the stronger natural middleweight, kelly pavlik.
hey, has anybody noticed that the replay for pavlik v. hopkins is being shown at midnight on saturday, instead of the usual time of ten on a saturday night??? i think hbo doesnt' want us to see there "'future" (pavlik) look bad. Looks like a marketing ploy to me. The replay of ppv fights are always prime time on a saturday night. or could it be that hbo is hating on bernard hopkins???
