    Michael Grant: The overrated fighter

I thought Michael Grant was one of the most overrated fighters in history. I remember they were promoting him to be like Godzilla in the ring, but Godzilla never showed up and got knockout by Lewis, then followed by Jameel McCline in his next fight. He would've lost against Golota if he hadn't given up. Now, he returns to the ring on Nov 15, 2008 against someone named Paul Marinaccio.
Im sure that'll be fun. (lol)

He was the product of a star craved media and a fantastic promotional team. But..........he did show a lot of heart in the Golota fight.

He had some heart but no survival skills or durability. Grant was about as green and inexperienced as a fighter could be. When he fought Lewis it was like an amateur tennis player against Federer. Had he learned how to tie up and set up his offense, he could have had a longer career. But if he ever, and I mean ever decided to step up again, he would get mashed and destroyed. He has zero confidence left, if he had any to begin with.

Grant is a very classy person if that counts for anything. He obviously was overrated, but it's not like he was Tye Fields or anything like that.

He was a helluva athlete. Its just nearly impossible to start boxing so late and be great. Im not sure, but I don't think he ever put gloves on till he was in his 20's. Had he started 8 or 9 years earlier...who knows?

Well,if I'm not mistaken Ray Mercer,Ron Lyle and James 'Bonecrusher' Smith all started boxing well into their twenties and went on to have pretty decent careers.
Whether Michael Grants career would come off the rail was a question of when and not if.He had no durability or ring sense...

PS Randall Hopkirk, why do you have a picture of GH Hardy in your avatar?
