Race does have a lot to do with it. The Chinese are typically of a different build to males in the parts of the world that have typically produced heavyweight fighters. Their typical body types just are not consistent with what it takes to be a successful heavy.

Not to sound racist, but most Chinese people are small people. Yao ming is an rare exception.

Isn't it ironic. The only full-blooded Chinese players that have played in the NBA are all 7 footers and taller. Currently, the World's tallest man is Chinese. I don't think the problem is not having enough big Chinese guys, it's more that boxing really ain' that popular in China.

of course genetics is a factor. china's best shot at producing a hw champion is the sheer size of their population. they'd be one in a billion like yao.

Chinese people are getting bigger, they have grown like 3 inches in the oast 50 years, they will be of normal stature in our lifetime. Yes there will be many Chinese HW champs.
