He fought in a much easier era. When boxing was less well known and was known to have fought bums. No pressure and had to fight so often its no surprise he had a winning record.

    Undefeated.

Your an idiot. Armstrong and Louis regularly sold out the garden. the P4P ranking was created to describe Armstrong in the Era of Joe Louis, one of the most prosperous n the history of the sport. Its obvious you have absolutely no knowledge of boxing previous to 1990, and therefore are sorely under qualified to pronounce anyone GOAT, gtfo nutthugger this is a place to discuss BOXING

so much skill & talent, yet just doesn't thrive on competition...its a shame he has to be that way.

I can see that. Greatest of all time? Well, he still has a shot at it. I'd love to see him come back, and shoot for it.

An era of more rounds, smaller gloves, sparser rules, and fighting much more frequently. No multi-million dollar HBO contracts to fall back on in those days. An undefeated fighter was seen as someone who hadn't fought anyone. Boxing was a lot more popular before the war than it is now, and more people were competing in the sport. More fighters means a bigger talent pool, which in turn means more great fighters around at the same time. 120,000 people turned out to watch Dempsey fight Tunney. In your wildest dreams, can you imagine that number of people trekking out to see Floyd fight?

Floyd's had 40 fights in his career. Greb, Langford, Robinson et al were still getting warmed up after 40. Floyd hasn't unified a single division, has held nothing but a WBC belt throughout, and has skirted around all the most dangerous challengers since 135. Supreme talent, but too often he's shied away from proving it. That's why he falls short when compared with the real greats.

Anyone with sense know Floyd was a great fighter but the OP of this thread is going overboard. Possible troll.
