Honestly, I don't think he has a shot at it. The Fab 4 lived threw an era of GREAT GREAT fighterz. Right now we have Floyd, Pacman, B-Hop, Toney, RJJ, etc and the only person Floyd could get at right now is Pacman. I don't know what Margarito would do for Floyd's legacy...really

It would do loads for Floyd legacy, he's the best at WW which is one of the most packed divisions in boxing. It proves he can fight the best at WW which he hasn't done so far. Don't give me the Hatton (140), Baldomir and Judah bull. He fought the best at 130-135 but not at 140-147, granter he beat Hatton but it was at 147 not 140, Margarito would remove all doubt from anyone's mind then most people would let him retire in peace.

              No it wouldn't.

People will not let him retire in peace. This is because he is not who everyone wants him to be. Some are dissappointed that he didn't achieve the heights that he had potential for. Some are delusional (see threadmaker) and pretend that he did things that he obviously didn't. He will never be close to the best because he didn't take the risks.

Floyd has chosen the safe options over the last few years of his career and I am guilty of criticizing him for it. Well I take it back. He has found a different focus to his life that allows him to be fulfilled and happy, secure and healthy.

              Good for him.

If he is happy with what he has achieved then screw everyone else. I genuinely wish him well and consider him smarter than many other boxers.

He will never be an ATG though.

But if he doesn't care about that why should we.

              Let him be.

I'd go along with "greatest of his era" just.

greatest ever is impossible to say because you can't compair accross era's very easily as you can never know the reletive strength of any division campaired to 20 yearsd previous or after.

Example Ali was great but was he great because the people he fought where of such a high standard or is it because the division was so collectively weak that you had great fight after great fight from actually poor boxers that would never make in another era...

So I thinks it's best to stick to "best of his era" that way you can drool over many great fighters without putting down anyone.
