This kid is supposed to be the Heir apparent to the SMW crown yet he daren't fight a guy with at least an ounce of a chance.

    Will Kessler EVER be back?
OR is he gonna follow Caklzaghes footprint of fighting bum of the month...and collect the payday?
i've rewatched the cal/kess fight dvd a number of times.
it was pathetic watching gentaleman kessler sitting on the stool inbetween rounds, mouth agaped, bewilderded look on his face and his corner being silent not saying a word! it was wierd. i felt so sorry for him. no constructive help at all from palle.
lackey palle in his corner whos claim to fame was when he was the cornerman for one of sonny listons fight who was hired because they needed a foreign lackey pushover that would keep quite and let sonny run his own training camp and not complain, he is the problem.

i'm afraid that they are going to go the typical euro route and just fight second tier types for all those hoaky euro belts.
he needs to shed that creep palle(i know he has a big stable)and rules over in lackey sweden or one of those countrys; and get a real proffesional trainer!
even calzaghes dad would be better then palle!

Mikkel Kessler has been on HBO twice and both times rated horribly. No one cared to see him face Librado Andrade (in spite of what you may think) and Calzaghe simply wasn't well known enough here when they fought. Calzaghe's a lot bigger in popularity now since his win over Hopkins but even that fight wasn't on pay-per-view. But his fight against Roy Jones will be.

It's all about who the opponent is.

Kessler wants another appearance on HBO? Fight Glen Johnson. Fight Chad Dawson. Kelly Pavlik. At least one of those guys are available and any network would take that on.

But at this point in time HBO would rather air the latest version of Pimps Up, Hoes Down before spending money to air Mikkel Kessler vs. Who? in Kessler's backyard.
The Klit's aren't really comparable to Kessler as they are HW champs.

Calzaghe is comparable. And so is Ottke, Erdei, Maske and several other euro's. Calzaghe only managed to land a fight against a big US name when he was well above 30 years old and having defended the title probably 15 times. With Joe as the measuring-stick a US breaktrough is some time away.

Of course it's impossible to know what the future brings, but I'm certain Kessler would love to fight Chad Dawson. I do however have serious doubts that Dawson wants to fight him as several more financially attractive optins seems open to him (Johnson or maybe Calzaghe, RJJ)

As for the SMW's Jermain Taylor holds the key to the future and HBO. If he, as expected, defeats Jeff Lacy, he can pick any titleholder for his next match. Question is who he'd pick: Andrade/Bute, Kessler/Haussler, Froch/Pascal. What do you think?

PS: Regarding Showtime; yes that could be a nice option. I doubt however that Showtime wants anything to do with Team Palle after the Miranda fiasco.

Haussler was a unnessary WBA mandatory - the WBA should have put Danilo in an eliminator with a good fighter, instead of giving him the unearned title shot.

Kessler wants to keep the WBA title, but after Haussler, he shouldn't need to face any more mandatories for a year or more.

I do think Kessler should fight more often - THREE times a year - so to not waste his prime.

Calzaghe was on Showtime well before he fought Lacy, in fact well before the rest of the world really knew him. The bottom is line is that it's up to Kessler. Keep fighting the Haussler's of the world (which seems to be what they will continue to do) and receive no recognition and ultimately, no respect.

Well I don't think Jermain Taylor is the guy Kessler should be gunning for anyway.

You have to use logic. Names are looking for big names and big names are looking for bigger ones. So Kessler has to seek those who no one wants to fight.

Everyone would LOVE to fight Taylor because he's shown weakness. Taylor's gonna wanna get paid for his trouble, which Kessler can't do. Bottom line, he needs to fight those who can't get fights - Glen Johnson, Chad Dawson, etc. There are more.

Kessler can sit back and hope a Taylor chooses him or he can be proactive and MAKE these guys fighting him by fighting every respectable name he can so others have to take notice. The choice is up to him.
