Who thinks "styles DON'T make fights"

I made a comment about styles making fights. I enjoyed reading the replies. One reply was "I didn't know what wtf I was talking about." lol... What do you think managers do when matching up they're fighter with another? Why is Margarito not in a hurry to fight Williams? Williams was outclassed by Quintana in fight #1. Quintana got crushed by Cotto. Didn't Cotto get man handled by Margarito? Please don't bring up fight #2 with Quintana? Quintana won 12and 1/2 of the rounds and got caught. So who is the best ww? When matching fighters,.. style is important. Different reason why styles make fights. Why was nobody willing to pay to watch a Winky fight? His "style" was boring. He is good, but he will even admit he is boring to watch. Styles do make fights!

winky (before in the past not now.....now he's overpricing himself) was just too damn good. he was not a big draw but was definitely a big risk. he wasn't worth fighting unless you had to. big props to shane for trying to take him on......twice!

think about it oscar fears no one. oscar has fought the who's who of boxing. yet oscar was wary of fighting winky.

winky was a special fighter. as a super welterweight to be competitive with hopkins at practically light heavyweight is something special.

winky was not boring either. he fought. he had great defense but he moved forward. it's not like he ran around.

what makes winky fights boring is not that he runs or anything it's because most of the time the fights are so one sided.

if they fought now hopkins would beat roy..hops still has his legs while roy doesnt..its funny to say now but hopkins would box circles around roy..think about it 15 years ago it was still a close fight..roy didnt embarrase him then

I knew I would find you here! There is a reply to your last on the other thread. There was a misunderstanding and I explained it to you there. Just did it. Go ahead and read it. For the record, I said, "don't be suprised." The reason why I think B-hop could possibly win Jones#2 is simply because of his current activity in the sport vs. Jones. Both fighters style are still basicly the same.

fair enough, i have no problem with that, and thats not an unreasonable opinion... i just think we should wait 3 more weeks before we discuss whose got what left.
