i've heard this before but not sure if its 100% true.I'm reading a biography on him, and he is known as saying that he never liked to fight. It was just a business to him. I'm sure a lot of you have heard this before, but what do you think? Possibly the greatest fighter of all time didn't even like it, haha. I just think it's kind of funny.
i mean maybe at the end of his career i can see not liking to fight...he did have a TON of fights in his career but i doubt it was like that in the beginning...otherwise he would have never fought in the first place because good money wasnt come in from day one...he had to take a lot of fights to get that money.
i can see it though...it makes sense.
isnt there anyone here who is really or decently good at something but doesnt do it because they dont enjoy it? it happens...
still an all time great.Comment

Yea honestly sounds like something taken out of context you gotta remember he fought way longer and had way more fights than any average fighter today and so maybe he said that late in his career and meant he doesn't enjoy it ANYMORE because I mean come on how much can you enjoy getting punched in the face after your 200th ****in fightComment

You make it sound like he wasted attracted to it. Which is my point, he wanted to be very very defensive and able to get out of the way of any punch quick while opening up a hard hit in close where they couldn't hit him as well. He admitted that was an obsession. His hero was Jack Dempsey, he wore the same shoes as Dempsey. And that was the way of Dempsey, that is my point. Tyson's biggest problem was that he got chicken **** and had a weak jaw.Where the hell did you get that **** from? Tyson bobbed and weaved because that's how cus d'amato strictly taught him. You make it sound like tyson was training himself. I agree he had alot of subconscious fear inside him though because he's really the scared bully typeComment

na man you got it wrong because it doesn't matter what he is attracted to if you know anything about boxing you'll know that that is the fighting style that is best utilized by his TYPE of fighter, i.e. his size and shape and physical dimensions and as such that's what cus d'amato adapted to him. I agree that I mean if he were to train by hismelf or with someone else he would naturally POSSIBLY gravitate towards such a style anyway but he had NO DECISION in what his style would be you have to understand how strict Cus was in training him.You make it sound like he wasted attracted to it. Which is my point, he wanted to be very very defensive and able to get out of the way of any punch quick while opening up a hard hit in close where they couldn't hit him as well. And his hero was dempsey for the aggression and animalistic rage dempsey showed not for dempsey's defense (lack thereof)Comment
