MMA is a sport that there is many ways to defeat someone so its hard to get guys that are 34-0 and build super fights. In boxing we get that because people can master one sport to a T and dominate at it. Honestly, without Brock Lesnar MMA would not be talked about right now. The MMA numbers have not been increasing, they are about the same because they built a decent fanbase.

I also think that MMA will fall because the way they run their business. Yes, it is a smart idea to allow fans to see big fights on tv for free to an extent. It helped UFC begin to build their company but they have stood by this for to long. If you hold fights strictly on tv you do not make the same amount as money as PPV. Think about the difference of viewership which is about 10-15 cents compared to 50 dollars for a PPV. I think MMA fans (ufc fans in this matter) were spoiled and think that this will always continue. All the money spent on productions, arenas, fighters pay(they dont make much probably due to this)and other things I don't know that go into running a company all add up. This is why I think exlitexc failed when it comes to money.

There's other reasons I fell MMA will fail though. Things that it just seems like fans aren't into ground game. MMA has always been all about promoting by showing blood and quick knockouts but as soon as it came to the face of the fight world we seen the game. Well the last few months I know have been a real disappointment, or so I read with poor match ups and boring ones. It just won't work long term IMO. Kinda like how kickboxing tried to takeover.

very good points brought up and I agree that UFC is marketed more as an action "blood sport" so to speak .. see bold

anyway why I think the MMA slack off has more in part to do with trends. Dana White has expressed how "MMA is at it's most popular right now and getting bigger" well just on that paraphrased statement, and by your own of the MMA numbers not increasing .....

if MMA isn't increasing there's only one other way it can go. It's very possible that the interest level peeked out to an extent, no big stars left to market and MMA will fall off a bit and drop in popularity.

and while it doesn't make as much money as PPV, what's so bad about showing fights strictly on TV?

it seemed to work pretty well for the NBA, NFL, etc and they don't need PPV at all. So why are the Combat Sports one of the few to use Pay Per View? (probably just a money thing)

If Boxing has this Gigantic World Wide Fanbase .. wouldn't it be smart to broaden and take advantage of the viewership by going network?

Because taking a quote from Golden Boy Promotions CEO and butt puppet Richard Schaefer who compared the DLH-Pac fight in grandness to the Super Bowl of all things

sure both are big events but one of the reasons the Super Bowl is so well known is because it's probably 1 of the most watched events every single year

where Boxing's "Super Bowl" has an asking price of $54.95

kinda funny how Schaefer chooses the Super Bowl, a free event on TV might I add

to compare to what's being called the biggest fight of the year in DLH-Pacquiao.

**and when did Kickboxing try to take over, just curious.
