This was all said right after the fight when he was still vividly in shock. He wasn't really making a lot of sense and neither was Loew. Join the list of people whom can't get off against Hopkins Kelly, you had to get to the fight to realise thats what he does? You just also exposed why you lost the fight, you had no idea what you were up against and had to do with Hopkins. So when his distance, movement, jab, slickness worked it's magic you had nothing prepared and nothing to answer it. Hence you couldn't get going.

If this article is quoting what Pavlik said in the video interview it's more of Pavlik being in shock than being a bad loser, he totally did not know how he lost that fight.

i agree, but you know what, honestly, hopkins is one of the most unbeatable fighters in the history of the sport, seriously, you may win, but you dont really win. Calzhage won, but he didint really win a whole lot in retrospect, the win did nothing for him or his career, taylor won twice, but his 2 wins will always be looked at in negative fashion.

I will say that it did look like Kelly just couldn't get off at all that night.

I also haven't forgotten that no one is readily able to get off against Hopkins. I would guess the weight played a tiny part in it, but... nothing substantial that would reverse the decision at any other weight.

I said it before... weight issues can change a 115-113 loss, but not a 119-107 loss.

That little bit about Hopkins not being good because he lost to Taylor twice and Pavlik beat him twice was absurd too. I mean, ****, all that Hopkins needed those nights against Taylor was activity... and he showed that he has it still. I think he beats Taylor with that kind of performance... easy.

I've done a fair amount of boxing and know what it's like to feel normal until the first round starts then you feel weak, unmotivated and uninspired, it happens, and in boxing theres no team mates to do the work for you

That Hopkins hadn't developed his untouchable defense, and he didn't seem very prolific with counterpunching at that point in his career. He was mostly a brawling-esque aggressive killer in there. Of course Roy would have an easier time with that then he would against the post-Trinidad Hopkins.

Jones still beats him though before the jump to HW IMO.
