I don't think the weight difference nor the slight size advantage of De La Hoya will be of any significance. I firmly believe the speed advantage of the Pacman will be his key to victory. JAT.

Well unless Marquez is much faster than Oscar than I would agree with you...cause as we all know Marquez took Pacman to school and pretty much landed way more punches than pacman did...
He might be a big faster but Oscar does have speed...Plus he'll be well prepared for this fight..its not like he's not taking this fight serious.

Okay, I'll use an example for you. When the Pacman fought David Diaz, everyone speculated at first that he would lose to him because he was going up in weight and that he would be slower thus losing against a much more muscular and supposedly more powerful boxer in Diaz. The skeptics were proven wrong. Now with this fight, I see a similar scenario in which the skeptics will be proven wrong again. Why? Because being bigger doesn't necessarily mean being better. JAT.

Listen, De La Hoya ain't just any ordinary big guy, he has been a prizefighter since the 90'S while PAC was still fighting as a club fighter, DLH has been in much bigger fights than PACquiao. De La Hoya's advantage aint just in size, he has an excellent defense, terrific power, better boxing IQ and a solid jab. F**k the size advantage, those things i just mentioned is more than enough to stop PAC inside of 6 rounds!
Ok about 90% of people here always say Paul Williams, Margarito, etc..Deserve to be at WW so as long as they can make weight right?..ok I also agree..
Now there were special stipulations to this fight DLH said he would come in at 147 on FIGHT NIGHT!..and he'll be fined 3 million dollars for each pound he comes in over on FIGHT NIGHT..
I'm guessing that still gives Pacquiao the liberty to come in at any weight he wants on fight night..Which he walked in at 147 on fight night vs David Diaz..
So the only real disadvantage here is that Pacquiao is 5'6 and DLH is 5'10..they'll weigh just about the same..
which is no difference than Margarito (5'11) vs Cotto (5'8)..or even Williams (6'1 or 6'2) vs Quintana (5'9)
Right?..
Pac's got big legs, but he's a smaller man in general. De la Hoya is wider and taller, and Pacquiao has been jumping up in weight a lot.

i agree.
i think too many people blow this out of proportion...
i think they arent that much different in size...as you pointed out no bigger difference than cotto v. margarito (well an inch but you get the point)...
if its at 147 whats the problem? pacquaio comes in at 145-147 on fight night lately anyway...so i dont see the problem...two fighters at 147 is two fighters at 147.
sure oscar hits harder than the size fighters pacman has been fighting but thats not the point...pacman usually comes in at 147 and oscar is going to come in at 147...its a welterweight fight.

Mike Tyson also had every conceivable physical advantage over Buster Douglas. There's alot of intangibles in a fight. Something as insignificant as getting a half hour less of sleep than normal could have an adverse effect on a fighter's performance.

.
The main difference between this and Margarito/Cotto is that Cotto had been at 147 for a few fights (and fought well), or at 140 for years. Barring a couple of fights when Tony went up, Cotto was always either 1 weight class below Tony, or in the same division.
Pacquiao has always been at least 4 divisions below DLH except for their last fights, which were "only" 15.5 lbs apart.

Pacquiao's been weighing in at around 145-147 on fight night...DLH hasn't allowed himself to be weighed on fight night since 2000, but he's been fighting at 154 and above since 2001 (barring the Forbes fight). I think a fair estimate is that DLH weighs in the low 160s on fight night when he's at 154 (say he puts on 6-8 lbs after the weigh-in).
That's about a 15 lb difference, which is a lot. Some guys have the skill, talent, and style to overcome a big weight difference (Mayweather), but I have a tough time seeing Pac doing it unless DLH is weakened from making 147.

I dont know where you got your information from . . . i dont think anyone picked DD to beat pacman, people predicted a closer and tougher fight and maybe a decision and not the ko but thats about it. pacman was moving up in weight and there were questions about his speed/power in doing so, but DD is not and never has been an elite boxer and is not know for any real power, he was known to be a durable guy with a lot of heart. the class in which dlh is in is waaaaaaaaaayyy above DD and your comparisons and analysis do not apply imo.
pac has a chance he's fast and powerful as we all know, but i cannot imagine him having much of a chance with this huge step in weight and the class of fighter dlh is.
