If Roy Jones defeats Joe Calzaghe, can he face Hopkins in January/February? What about the rematch clause in the contract? If so does he wait unil June to face Jones? Fight someone to keep busy or Dawson until then. or Can Hop/Jones dictate they want the winner of Dawson/Calzaghe since the ball would be in their court?
Is this possible or unfeasible?

It would take much longer to materialize.
Hopkins said he wanted to fight much sooner, very early 2009, but I'm sure he'd have a change of heart with the opportunity to make a huge payday against Roy Jones.
April/May 2009 would be the likely date.
I'm not sure about the rematch clause. It also depends on how much of a demand there would be for a rematch. What if Jones beats Calzaghe in an absolute stinker of a fight, on the level of Leonard-Duran 3? -
Roy cannot and will not win this fight with Calzaghe because he is ****ing shot. I want to see Roy vs. B-Hop II as much as anyone. I almost walked away from boxing when they couldn't put their fight together back in 2002. This fight is 7 years too late, and I've hated both of them ever since they messed that up. It was #1 vs. #2 and they ****ing blew it.
I still don't think they'll ever fight because neither could live with a loss. It would seriously eat them up for the rest of their life.Comment

There was a rematch clause for the Hamed-Barrera fight too, even though neither of them had a belt.
Rematch clauses are not stipulated by governing bodies, they are done because the fighters involved choose to sign them(/are forced to in order to make the fight).Comment

A rematch between them is definitely possible sometime next year if Jones wins, I wouldn't be surprised if a match is made between them even if Jones loses, I think a fight between them can materialize as long as Jones is competitive in the Calzaghe fight.Comment
