Yes, that,s right, gerald had heart to face Benn when roy wouldn,t and there,s no way roy would have beaten benn in that fight... plus roy would have ran the whole fight after benn lands one of those haymakers...steward said at the hopkins fight that gerald had move up to face benn at 168 and that was his first and last fight ever...props to gerald and benn for giving fight fans a classic besides the horrible outcome...would love to have seen gerald fight roy before he got hurt... i would put my money on gerald by ko...any thoughts???

Thoughts? No complaints bro, I agree with you.

Benn is one of my favorites (hence: still in the avatar). I have mad respect for the G-Man though.

I'd pick Roy over both Benn and McCellan.

You can knock Jones for some of his choice of opposition, but not around this time period.

Just 3 months before Benn fought McClellan, Jones had moved up from 160 to 168 to fight James Toney, the #2 ranked p4p fighter in the world.

I would easily pick Jones over Benn. Although obviously Benn has a punchers chance in any fight and sometimes the top guys don't want to take that chance.

I think Roy takes either one of them rather easily.

I'd pick Jones over Nigel. But I agree with you, on that night against McClellan, Benn was sensational. I think Jones wouldve had nightmares with him.

McClellan most likely was already physically damaged entering the Benn fight. He had been complaining of frequent headaches since then. I'm sure drying out, which he was known for doing a lot at 160, didn't help.

                  Nice avatar.

For me the single most horrific thing about that fight is that Gerald wrapped his own hands. It's so terrifying that in that moment he may have created his own fate.
