Who was Bernard Hopkins fighting at age 26?

    Willie Kemp 13-7-0

    David McCluskey 10-21-2

    Danny Mitchell 7-16-1

To be fair tho, he did beat the great Ralph Moncrief. (24-15-0)

    soooooo???

hopkins was a late bloomer. He didn't have a lot of experience (remember when most guys were in the amutres and olympics, he was in prison). Pavlik already is a champion. Also, hopkins didn't get schooled by anyone either

He wasn't champ yet, just a contender but he fought Roy Jones for his first title, if Pavlik fought Roy Jones for the title guess what woulda happened?

Hopkins was 25 years old when he started fighting actively as a pro in 1990 (I'm aware he had one fight in 1988).

Hopkins boxed plenty before he went to prison. Also he boxed actively in PRISON, as he states everytime hes on TV. He learned boxing in prison, claims this all the time.

Being schooled is being knocked out cold, or being at least knocked down once.

This isnt to take away from Hopkins win, just facts. Just comparing ages.

Pavlik was schooled severely in one of the most one sided fights in the last few years.

It was a Lacy - Calzaghe style boxing lesson. To say Pavlik wasn't schooled is naive. I bet he felt slightly embaressed yesterday morning, especially as he was the favourite.

I don't really see what you are getting at. Comparing where fighters are in their careers at a certain age is a pretty useless exercise IMO. Plenty of guys have had wierd careers when their peaks have either been significantly different to the norm, one way or the other.

Kelly did get schooled by Hopkins, its just the way it is. All credit to Pavlik for taking the fight in the first place though, he had to know he was going in there with everything to lose and nothing to gain. I actually think it will make him a better fighter in the long run. He is still the best guy at 160 IMO and I would pick him to beat Abraham.
