How's Pavlik going to back Joe up when Joe's the one who had Hopkins on the ropes at times in there fight(something Pavlik couldn't even do). When joe also had kessler and lacy on the ropes. Oh please, your logic is flawed. Calzaghe would give pavlik a spanking for 12 round if not tko Pavlik, Pavlik is a crappier version of Kessler.

Agree'd that styles make fights. Plenty of people here don't realize it. But it seems Pavlik really dominates almost anyone who is smaller or has less of a defense, and when I say dominates, I mean it. Slick, technical, defensive fighters are obviously his weakness.

Another example of Calzaghe being able to fight going backwards -- the Byron Mitchell fight (round 2, after Joe gets put down, gets up, then floors Mitchell).

statements that need to be made.

            1. Kelly pavlik is not trash
But he needs to add more VARIETY to his offense

            2. B-hops win doesnt do **** for calzaghe's resume, because kelly and joe fight differently
With respect that Slapzaghe swamps you with ACTIVITY, albeit .. factoring in favor of judges and punchstat numbers
Pavlik basically Jab overhand right/ straight right hand

            3. kelly was suited for bernards style ....and kinda reminds me of tito trinidad
Disagree Trinidad is a much more refined complete boxer. The only atrribute that is similiar is the fact that they both press the action

            4. if calzaghe fought bernard again the fight will look the same but the outcomemight be different
The outcome will be different because Hopkins only mistake was he didn't mount enough offense to compliment his good defensive tactics against Joe

            5. if calzaghe and pavlik fought I would choose pavlik because joe doesnt know how to fight backing up and pavlik doesnt fight going backwards.
Calzaghe has lateral movement, Pavlik has shown that is of foreign nature

              Calzaghe 5' 11''

Calzaghe is smaller and has more muscle=stronger, but boxing ain't about being strong.
Cal has his own trick bag, is faster, southpaw, better faster footwork.
More experienced, better stamina, better defense, better suited to the weight etc.
There aren't many categories in which Pavlik is better.

BrooklynKid, you said Joe can't fight going backwards. I ask you, how many Joe Calzaghe fights have you studied? And I believe you said you were boxing yourself, so I emphasize the word "studied".

Joe likes his opponents to come to him. Watch the Lacy fight again, please.
I figure is would look more like the Kessler fight. It's been proven that Lacy was never that good. I think Zaghe beat Kessler 117-111 anyway...

I dont think he's capable of doing what Hopkins did because he's not as defensive, or as strong. It doesnt matter anyway. This fight will never happen now.

                    its just an opinion

I just think that kelly will beat calzaghe if they fought, it will depend on how
pavlik comes back because if hes like lacy and starts fighting like **** then i
would easily say calzaghe, but i just think that pavlik will still beat calzaghe

and cut the bull**** calzaghe is not as good a boxer as people give
him credit for, he is grossly overrated the ONLY thing he had going for him against bernard is workrate, thats it. he could barely land a clean punch
on bernard let alone outbox him.
