I want B-Hop to beat both AA/Chad. If RJJ beats Joe then he should fight RJJ

I was rooting for Hopkins but I expected Pavlik to win by UD. He put on a masterful performance and I respect BHOP so much more now. Definitely an ATG in my book.

        this was a joke...

pavlik the middleweight champion of the world? yeah right.

come on...take nothing away from hopkins...a future hall of famer with an EXTREMELY impressive resume...one of the best of his time...

but when you boil it down the big bad "unbeatable" kelly pavlik wasnt just beaten...he was absolutely SCHOOLED by a 43 year old man...thats what it comes down to.

pavlik has no business holding the titles at 160 (even though this fight was at 170)...from what i seen tonight he doesnt deserve them...

hopkins deserves ALL the credit he recieves as a result of this win.

bernard hopkins had NO BUSINESS winning that fight...especially in that manner...i gave hopkins EVERY round with the exception of the round in which the point was deducted for holding...

pavlik embarassed himself in the fight...he looked like gary lockett did when he faced pavlik...a novice amatuer at best.

im not a huge fan of either fighter; im just telling you like it is.

I hope hopkins goes out and gets his fight against roy jones (if calzaghe wins then a hopkins v. calzaghe rematch doesnt sound as tempting as hopkins v. jones)...

rather than hearing about how hopkins should retire i expect to see posts on this forum of who will he fight next (rightfully so)...even at 43 (and im all about fighter safety) judging by the way he fought tonight he could fight another 3 years easy...he looked young again...

pavlik better wash hopkins' car or do whatever he has to do to get a rematch of sorts to save his reputation...that was just SAD...its the truth.

        your thoughts about the fight???
main reason is b-hop is the man in this fight... he do his assignment and win convinsingly...

He isn't great either but Hopkins stepped up the gears and DESTROYED a world class athlete in his forties. You seem to underappreciate the fact that Hopkins is an ATG in his own way. He showed some skills, speed and workrate of the vintage B-Hop.
yeah italians are just the worst at boxing...marciano...what a joke!

its not that i underrated hopkins...im FULLY AWARE (yes; even before the fight) of the status and greatness of bernard hopkins...

HOWEVER you, i, and 95% of the world knew full well that hopkins really no buisness winning the fight...he had buisness being IN the fight...but not winning it.

majority of everyone involved in boxing (other than hardcore hopkins' fans) KNEW pavlik should have at least got a victory in that fight (even a close split decision at worst)...

i didnt jump on the ****wagon of believing pavlik would knock him out...but i (like just about everyone else) considered the key facts:

          Pavlik
          A) Good solid boxer
          B) top-tier in the power department (90% knockout ratio...VERY impressive)
          C) a chin of steel
          D) in his prime

          Hopkins
          A) 43 years old (well past his prime)
          B) a fighter at his age would likely gas out in the second half like he has done in recent fights giving up decision wins to taylor, calzaghe; etc.

it seemed very apparent before the fight which way it was going.

I didnt look down on hopkins...im very well aware of ALL his achievements and great moments in the sport (including 21 middleweight defenses and wins over some of the biggest names of our era).

You cant tell me pavlik wasnt more than expected to win the fight...he was (rightfully so) a 4-1 favorite...

its one thing to lose to a great fighter like hopkins and its another to get thrown under the bus...pavlik got put to shame...he didnt just LOSE...he got tactically and methodically destroyed for 12 full rounds...the ONLY round i gave pavlik is the round the ref basically gave to pavlik for hopkins' excessive holding.

other than that it was CLEARLY a one sided beatdown and thats not how the "middleweight champion of the world" should lose a fight no matter how great the other is when they are 43 years old and past their prime.

if he would have won 4 rounds or so then hey, a loss is a loss...but to the extent in which he lost puts him to shame...

          he got absolutely schooled.

it wasnt an off night...an off night shouldnt lead to losing 11 rounds of a 12 round fight. that was a beatdown.

i hope (although unlikely) that RJJ beats calzaghe to put on a ppv that would be worth every penny.

i like the way before the fight 95% of the forum argeed that pavlik would win it but now that hopkins has won the fight you would almost swear 95% believed hopkins would pull it off...

              i agree with that.

to be honest...i rarely remember a situation like last night where someone of hopkins' age (being that far out of their prime) absolutely crushed a guy of pavlik's status...

thats EXTREMELY rare to see someone of pavlik's status get schooled THAT bad...

              props to hopkins.

My first thought is you are about as wrong as wrong could be. Being objective it boils down to Hopkins was prepared, motivated and simply fought a near perfect fight against a guy, Pavlik, I dont see anyone beating at 160 and maybe only Kessler beaing at 168, but thats a big maybe. It is beyond me to understand how you can denegrate Pavlik's past perfrmance's against Miranda, and Taylor and everyone else he has absolutely destroyed and say he has no business being champion at 160. How can you say that off of on performance. Sadly it's par for the course here at boxing scene. A fighter loses and suddenly he is washed up, exposed. WTF? Ridiculous and you are generally a much higher quality poster than this Italian. Did you lose some money?

Yes hopkins was more prepared...fought the smarter fight...used every advantage he had to the fullest...

pavlik probably can beat almost everyone in the 160 division and most of 168...

however as THEE (as dubbed by majority of the fans) "champion" of 160 and being at the level everyone has hyped him to be he shouldnt have lost so badly...there is NO WAY someone of his status should be losing virtually EVERY ROUND to a 43 year old fighter who is years past his prime...NO WAY. a loss? sure...but to lose THAT convincingly??? hopkins might as well have knocked him out and it would have been the same statement.

i honest to god was going to bet my bank on this fight...i honestly was...but i got lucky and my card got stolen and charges were racked up so while the bank was doing their investigation and they froze my account (to prevent more charges) i couldnt use my account...thank GOD!

if my account card was never stolen i would be poor right now rather than just waiting for the bank to cover me with their fraud protection (i get all the money back that the theives spent)...otherwise i would have bet some serious money on this...

i mean virtually ALL the fans and experts were in agreement that pavlik wins some sort of decision...this has nothing to do with a personal vendetta against either fighter...i never been a big fan of either nor have i strongly disliked either in the past...

im on pavlik on this because someone of his status shouldnt have looked this way...this was like floyd v. gatti...or floyd v. baldomir...maybe even worse...there may have been no knockdowns or knockouts but despite that it was one of the biggest one sided beatdowns i've ever seen for a man of pavlik's status.

and lets keep pavlik's wins in perspective...

he's REALLY only beat taylor... i dont consider Jose Luis Zertuche and Edison Miranda names to get hyped up about...zertuche/pavlik was a HUGE mismatch that involved a one sided beatdown...and miranda is a fighter that doesnt posses much skill/technical boxing ability...

other than two wins over taylor pavlik has nothing to get excited about.

i always give pavlik a good chance at cleaning out 160 and 168 because of his great power and chin...a truly tough fighter...but like i said...he should have NEVER EVER EVER looked THAT BAD last night...NEVER...

                  that was horrible...

it was hard to watch after awhile...im honestly suprised pavlik's corner didnt warn him they would stop the fight because there wasnt really much reason for pavlik to fight anymore past the 8-9th round...at that point it was abundantly clear that pavlik couldnt get to bernard in a way to hurt him or stop him and that hopkins himself came close a few times to knocking pavlik down.

Why doesn't he deserve to have the titles at 160? He fought and beat the man who beat the man, so he deserves those titles.

Yes, he was taken to school by Hopkins but then again the Hopkins that fought him would have taken a lot of fighters to school and stylistically Hopkins was all wrong for Pavlik, if Hopkins can keep performing like that, I think he can beat almost anyone from 160-175.

                      This is a horrible thread.

Sometimes the other guy is too good, and the way Hopkins is even if you eek out a decision like Calzaghe you still look ****. You look f.uckin appalling when he beats you convincingly.

Pavlik is still obviously an elite fighter.

Pavlik matches up very well to Kessler and Abraham.
