The Truth About Pavlik v. Hopkins

As many can remember with wins over miranda and taylor that pavlik is the next big deal in boxing...the next stronghold at middleweight.

i will be honest enough to admit i thought pavlik would win it by UD...figuring hopkins wouldnt keep pace after the 5th round and tire out...

this was a joke...

pavlik the middleweight champion of the world? yeah right.

come on...take nothing away from hopkins...a future hall of famer with an EXTREMELY impressive resume...one of the best of his time...


but when you boil it down the big bad "unbeatable" kelly pavlik wasnt just beaten...he was absolutely SCHOOLED by a 43 year old man...thats what it comes down to.

pavlik has no business holding the titles at 160 (even though this fight was at 170)...from what i seen tonight he doesnt deserve them...

hopkins deserves ALL the credit he recieves as a result of this win.

bernard hopkins had NO BUSINESS winning that fight...especially in that manner...i gave hopkins EVERY round with the exception of the round in which the point was deducted for holding...

pavlik embarassed himself in the fight...he looked like gary lockett did when he faced pavlik...a novice amatuer at best.

im not a huge fan of either fighter; im just telling you like it is.

I hope hopkins goes out and gets his fight against roy jones (if calzaghe wins then a hopkins v. calzaghe rematch doesnt sound as tempting as hopkins v. jones)...

rather than hearing about how hopkins should retire i expect to see posts on this forum of who will he fight next (rightfully so)...even at 43 (and im all about fighter safety) judging by the way he fought tonight he could fight another 3 years easy...he looked young again...

pavlik better wash hopkins' car or do whatever he has to do to get a rematch of sorts to save his reputation...that was just SAD...its the truth.

I just cant fathom how Pavlic would be completive against Calzaghe !
And his fight last night against Hopkins compounded it for us!
Pavlic just dont fight well against crafty counter punchers,infact he didnt have a clue did he!
How could anybody possibly pic him against Calzaghe whos younger/fresher and moves even better then hopkins!?
Pavlic needs to go backdown to Middle and keep his feet on the ground!

Kelly was embarrassed. A fight like that will ruin a fighter. One of the worse performances I have ever seen by what was supposed to be a top tier fighter. Abraham will kill him if they ever fight. Kelly is lucky to have gotten where he did. The hype train has crashed miserably.

No wonder Italians are no good at boxing, they know nothing about it. You make a few good points and also contradict youreself. You don't know what you are looking at and seem to underrate Hopkins big time. It was not that Pavlik was **** or average. He isn't great either but Hopkins stepped up the gears and DESTROYED a world class athlete in his forties. You seem to underappreciate the fact that Hopkins is an ATG in his own way. He showed some skills, speed and workrate of the vintage B-Hop.

"the truth" is exactly what hopkins was in there tonight. He was the truth to Moby's lies, lies of hype and propaganda take that Moby no body listen to techno!!!
