I'm not saying it's not an excuse by Margarito, but like I said, an honest P-Will supporter has to wonder if it's mearly an excuse or if P-Will is just the better fighter.
I was impressed with Williams that night, and gave him big props for coming out strong and taking that 12th round. I thought Margarito could've salvaged a draw by winning the final round (I don't remember the scores), but was impressed with the young challenger wanting it more and winning the 12th.
A lot of fighters are forced to defend their belts against certain fighters, but choose to vacate their title instead. Margarito worked hard for that belt and didn't want to give it up that way. I don't think he viewed as being forced, but rather as his obligation as the WBO's champ.
Either way, I too hope the rematch eventually happens and things get cleared up in the division.
