Just for show, they list Pavlik's and Bernards reach at 75", but Pav's arms are very long. I mean knuckle dragger long.

That photo shows you the arm length advantage.
Yeah, Kelly is much larger framed than Hopkins, just bigger all around, which means stronger. Also younger, can swing at a high rate for 12, can take a decent punch and get up to continue...I don't look for much chance of an upset here, unless you want to talk about how upset Hopkins will be after the KO.

By the way, is Hopkins wearing heels in that photo? Pavlik has at least a couple of inches on him, but they're pretty close there.

No way Pavlik has a couple of inches height advantage on Bernard. That would make him 6'3" or more. Hopkins is around 6'1''. Pavlik is maybe a tiny bit taller, as far as we've been told, but actually I don't think he is. I think they are approximately the same height. Pavlik isn't "the bigger man" like some people suggest. Hopkins is a little heavier, so in effect he's the bigger man.

We shouldn't place much importance on height. I'm sure all of us can think of many fights where a shorter guy won against a much taller opponent. Mike Tyson, anyone? One difference here is the fact that Bernard has taken shots from naturally heavier fighters than Kelly Pavlik. I'm not so sure the same can be said of Kelly, he's more used to fighting middleweights, not light heavies.

That's a little harsh, Kayjay. I wasn't suggesting the staff writers are that bad, but at the end of the day (to use a Calzaghe-ism), their predictions probably don't hold significantly more weight than anyone else's. Some of the writers here are very good.

Pavlik has much narrower shoulders, so even if their wingspans are the same, his arm length is probably 2 in longer. But whatever height/reach advantages Kelly has will be more than made up for by Hopkins coming in fight night about 10-15 lbs heavier. Should be a pretty close fight.

                http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=215984

i pre****t pavlik suprises everyone and actualy shows some defense.
after surviving dangerous foul play he takes over in mid rounds and just
wups bernard silly till someone says no more.
for getting the sht kicked out of him bernards bullet head is hardly marked and for once he is gracious and respectful in his loss. then announces his retirement. then signs up kelly with his promotional team.
                kelly fights kessler next!

I dont see Hopkins getting KO'd. if it does happen it wont be from hopkins not beating the count, but from him quitting on his stool out of exhaustion...

Pavlik UD, but Hopkins makes it competitive.

I predict Hopkins will frustrate Kelly and beat him in a close split decision.
