I think he was hurt when Mitchell clubbed him with that right hand. It's hard to tell for sure, but he seemed wobbly when he came back up. To his great credit, he's in fantastic condition and recovers in seconds when it might take another guy half a round to get his head straight. That's what got Mitchell in trouble, going straight in thinking he had him badly hurt and would be easy to finish off. That was a great fight, if you haven't seen it, you need to. Less than 2 rounds, but all of it worth watching.

Stickman: I enjoyed that fight very much, too. Very entertaining. I saw it when it was aired on TV and couldn't believe Calzaghe got up and battered Mitchell and stopped him in the very same round. I genuinely thought Joe's successful run had come to an end at that point. Since then, he's continued to surprise me, hence me never taking bets against Joe Calzaghe ever again.
