Why would Calzaghe say **** about Pavlik when Pavlik is more popular?

I never said America wasn't the center stage of boxing. I said that Pavlik didn't draw 35 000 fans way back when because he hadn't even beaten Miranda way back then. He was a relative nobody until he beat Miranda.

It goes both ways. Calzaghe has expressed appreciation for Kelly in the past, I've seen him talking on video. My only conclusion is that Kelly talked **** about Joe since then, Hence Joe giving it back now.

In boxing there's a lot of politics involved. We don't have a clue what goes on behind the scenes and what filters down and gets blown out of proportion. It's very easy to say "X guy talked **** about Y guy for Z reason", and get all emotional about it. It's all irrelevant. Boxers talk all kinds of crap, but the only thing that matters is that they let their hands do the talking in the ring.

JC ONLY, EVER, gave Pavlik credit when his camp was considering him and put him on his "next opponent" list. As soon as he was ruled out, in that he wanted RJJ, the JC we have all come to not love and hate, showed his true colors. Enzo, IMO lately, is more to blame for people hating Joe than Joe is - but at the end of the day (lol, had to do it) Joe is the one who has to go in there and deliver. Against a Pavlik, the only thing being delivered is a beating - - to Joe of course.

Calzaghe isn't ****** enough to get a beating from Pavlik. He's way too advanced technically for that to happen. I know you're biased because you're a huge Pavlik fan, but let's be realistic about this -- to deny that Calzaghe isn't an amazing ring general is just straight up lying, otherwise it's just plain ignorance. Any half-knowledgeable boxing fan can see how well he works, especially under pressure (consider the Lacy fight -- Joe was under HUGE pressure and look how that went). Not only that, but Joe has one of the best chins in the business. Period.

And actually, I was just thinking about this before I returned to the thread -- Jack Loew may be responsible for some of the **** talk too. I know that him and Enzo had a few cross words in the past. Maybe some drama sparked from there? It's very possible. Personally I think both those fella's have loud mouths.

Honestly Calzaghe seems like a really likable person, and beyond that the guy is an awesome fighter. That said, it seems almost childish for him to pull that "who is that?" crap. Its like hes giving complete justification to Pavlik's claim that Joe doesnt want any part of him.
No disrespect to Joe, but that **** it really weak. Reminds me of his whole "you lost twice to Taylor" bit against Hopkins. Fifth grade stuff.

I agree. Loew and Enzo both talk way too much ****. Also, Pavlik won't have a huge size advantage against Calzaghe like some may think. Either way, if they fought, I'd root for Pavlik, not because I like him, but simply because I don't like Joe.

The fact of the matter is that American fans are a joke.

They constantly moan about turnouts for fights, yet their the ones sat at home watching and vegitating in front of their TV chomping away on their hotdogs.
                  They are all "armchair" supporters.

British boxers bring the biggest crowds and fan base. Real fans who travel across the world to see fights, some even book before a date is set.

How many of you so called "Pavlik fans" would travel across the Atlantic to see Pavlik vs Calzaghe? very few of you I bet, because you're all part-time supporters and prefer to moan in the comfort of your own living room.

America is too big and has a constant flow of great fighters , you cant capture America as easy as the UK , its the same in Aus where Mundine Green drew over 30 thousand and Fenech drew big crowds , nothing to do with the class of fighter but a lot to do with media hype and a very concentrated fan base .
