Why would Calzaghe say **** about Pavlik when Pavlik is more popular?

    They are all "armchair" supporters.

British boxers bring the biggest crowds and fan base. Real fans who travel across the world to see fights, some even book before a date is set.

How many of you so called "Pavlik fans" would travel across the Atlantic to see Pavlik vs Calzaghe? very few of you I bet, because you're all part-time supporters and prefer to moan in the comfort of your own living room.
Alot of the fans that Hatton brings seem to be football fans (as shown by the songs being sung, the booing of national anthems; a peculiarly football type thing to happen, and the fact that they were convinced that Ricky would beat Floyd)

You say it's loyalty, I say it for the most part is bring getting a holiday in in Las Vegas/New York and being part of a boxing event as part of it. It's not exactly a hardship, is it? Who wouldn't like to go to NYC or Las Vegas to see a boxing fight?

So I'm not sure about this idea of these people being "real fans". To me, the real fans are those who'll stay up at 5am to watch a dodgy stream on the internet, and who watch the second/third tier level fights of boxing, and not just the P4P-ers fighting each other and someone else.

It's just in our culture to travel and support our favourite sportsment. And let's face it, we aren't exactly overloaded with superstars, are we? So anyone who is pretty good and elite level, we're gonna pounce on.
