All my points on Diaz if this fight happens.
Marquez Vs Diaz In Negotiation For Early 2009 Bout In Las Vegas

People continue to underestimate the effort Campbell had to put forth just to win a close decision. Which included headbutting, holdng and hitting, and hitting low on the inside. Campbell fought extremely crafty in the pocket that night.
Juan Diaz is the real deal. He's a ****ing whirlwind, and he'd run right through Marquez, who's an offensive force in his own right, but lacking defensively. The only fighter who can beat Diaz at Lightweight is Pacquiao or possibly Guzman if he gets his **** together.
It'd be a hell of a fight though. Foty material for sure. Marquez just doesnt have enough.Comment

Marquez is a coward, hes avoiding Campbell like hell. and whats this, early 2009? why not just have him fight on the Paquiao-De La Hoya undercard? that would actually make the card very worthwhile, would bring in a ton of undecided buyers!
I guess Marquez is afraid of getting his ass kicked by Campbell. it amazes me that a guy with pretty much all of the belts who has a win over Diaz can call out Marquez and yet no one cares.
I guess I still consider the fight between Campbell and Diaz a "fluke" in my mind. I wish they would have done an immediate rematch...Comment

MARQUEZ VS DIAZ IN NEGOTIATION FOR EARLY 2009 BOUT IN LAS VEGAS
By Dong Secuya
Negotiation is now going on for Ring Magazine lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez to face former lightweight king Juan Diaz for an early 2009 bout in Las Vegas, the Mexican paper Esto has reported.
Golden Boy Promotions, which promote both fighters, is said to be currently doing an offer to both Mexican fighters and Marquez and Diaz are expected to decide shortly whether to push through with the fight or not.
Marquez won the Ring belt from Joel Casamayor of Cuba last Sep. 13 via a 10th round stoppage in Las Vegas and said he hoped to win a regular lightweight title in 2009 as well as face pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao for the third time or any another top caliber fighters including a rematch with Marco Antonio Barrera.
Juan Diaz held the IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight titles before American Nate Campbell snatched the belts from him last March in Cancun, Mexico.Comment
