It's true, there are the warriors and everyone else. But like any sport, or any endeavor, people need to care about it or otherwise the wheels of boxing simply won't turn. Basically, its a symbiotic relationship and every role in the sport needs to thrive to survive. That said, the boxers have to be given the most credit for the courageous act of entering the ring, with life clearly at risk. Thanks to all the fighters - you do deserve great respect. Of course, fans and writers have the right to tell the truth when need be.

I think Larry Merchant is VERY disrespectful of boxers in general...he also has his own way of thinking and wont accept another way that he doesnt agree with, no matter whose way it is....even if they are clearly more in tune with boxing than he is...

John, can you give 3 specific examples. I think Larry loves fighters and shows genuine respect to them but if he thinks a fighter is bull****ting, he will call him on that. And I think that is a good thing. Also, I think Larry has a very clear vision of the boxing landscape and what is going on.

You need to understand, he cant know when a fighter is BS'ing because I have noticed sometimes a fighter will say something I recognize and even though it doesnt make what you might say "common sense" (much of the insides of actual boxing goes against what regular people may call common sense) it makes sense to me...and Larry wont understand it..it is EXACTLY why Larry often clashed on air with George and Roy, because they would make observations that a guy like Larry couldn't really understand....it is hard for some to accept for some crazy reason but it is a fact that there ARE certain aspects of boxing that only a guy who has done it before can understand...and sometimes, not all the time of course, but sometimes Larry shows glimpses of the fact that he doesnt TRULY understand a fighters mindset...

Also, I understand that Larry knows a lot about the business aspects of boxing and he is privvy to A LOT OF inside knowledge in regards to the business of boxing...but in terms of what a fighter feels, thinks in the ring, why he does certain things in the ring that go against Larry's limited knowledge, sometimes Larry should lay back and just LISTEN AND learn...
