I know a lot of guys who have cut drastic amounts...I myself used to have to cut quite a bit. It was TERRIBLE sometimes...James Toney...G-Man, yes...Arturo Gatti for sure...when I trained Chad Dawson as a middleweight he once had to go from 171 to 160 over night....and he did it and was strong for the fight..there is a WAY to do it and it took me a lot of trials and error in my own fights to learn the difference...I remember RJ going from 168 to 160 over night early on when I was there...

The way Larry talks and interviews if you didnt know better you would think he has ring experience. When he gets called out by someone like Roy Jones he doesnt like that and tries to get argumentative and usually ends up sounding arrogant and ignorant. Anyone that has even put on boxing gloves and tried to mimic what boxers do in the ring quickly realize how difficult it must be to and how much there is to learn to be considered "good" or "successful" in that sport. Max Kellerman is a guy that also does this a lot and is getting worse. Merchant at least has more polished commentator skills.

Many people get very mad and insulted when this subject is brought up and they shouldnt...but...Larry never fought...and the ONLY people who say "that doesn't mean anything" are people who also never fought...not that a person who never fought cannot know a lot about the sport etc etc etc...but it is just to say that there are aspects that a person who never fought could NEVER relate to and sometimes this shows itself when fighters talk and condescening Larry gets ahold of them...he often is out of his depth and realm and he doesnt know it...

Over here in the states I never get to see any of the "prospects" until after they have advanced to contendership, pretty much...why? Who do YOU see as the big up and comers over there? Anyone in particular we should be on the lookout for?

              Chunk would say "KELL BROOK!"

              Kell is pretty good, actually.

                Thanks Champ, I appreciate it.

I just want to explain why I was "leading with hooks"I was actually visualizing that I was in-fighting. But, you're right, I should put more torque into it, it's just that when I'm throwin' my hooks, it feels like I'm putting my hips and legs into it, but that video says otherwise. I'll keep workin' on it.

And as far as the downward angle of my straight punch. Yes, that has been a bad habit of mine from the beginning and my old coach had the same feedback as you. However, I'm one of those "game time" fighters though.

I might look crap in practice, but, when it counts(ie in a tourney) believe me champ, I ain't throwing that straight-punch downwards, it's headed for a chin or the solar plexus and I'm quite accurate with it, actually.

When I used to compete, after tournaments, my coach would say, "why can't you do that in practice". I don't know what it is, I feel like I give 100% in practice, but, I guess I perform better when it counts. It's like I need that pressure, it wakes me up.

                • John, we have talked before. Thanks for all the great insights you have provided on here. 2 questions. Who do you take at Welter prime SRL, after beating Tommy Hearns or Prime Mayweather Jr. I know who I would go with, but I would like to here your thoughts and why.

Also, do you have any insights on the sparrinig session between SRL and Roy. What did you hear, who got the best of who..etc.

I pick SRL to beat Floyd, but, I don't think it's gonna be in dominating fashion though. I think many are underestimating Floyd Jr whenever this mythical matchup is brought up.

The big ? is though, can Floyd handle getting tagged. I don't think Jr will have the luxury of going unscathed against someone like SRL.
