I dont' think the eye itself was in danger either, but there are muscles and nerves that run through the eyebrow that can be damaged if they don't have something over them to protect them (skin, flesh, fatty tissues). It wouldn't do him any good to have a perfectly functioning eye, if the muscles, tendend and nerves that control it are ruined.

I agree with the stoppage, and credit Lewis with a win, fair and square, but I also agree that, had there been no cut, Vitali most likely would've stopped Lewis within a few more rounds. This is purely conjecture, but that was the impression I got from the preceeding rounds.

Yes I know about the muscles, which have nothing to do with his eyebrow, thery operate the eye itself (5 muscles).

And the nerves travel at Rt angles to the direction of the wound, and, although on either side of the cut, were not anywhere close to it. Look it up in the internet, I'm sure they'll have a repro. of a Gray's Anatomy somewhere. I just happened to still have my old one from many years ago.

The faxt i, the dr was wrong, he gave at least 2 different reasons for stopping the fight neither of them valid. They were based on Klitschko not being able to see, because he had no control over his EYELID.......... This of course was patently untrue, and a real "bloomer" of a mistake.

Klitschko almost certainly didn't hear the doctors thin, reedy voice with all the hubbub in the corner in several languages, none of them English, and in the background the huge swell of the thousands of fans in the arena. Probably didn't even notice him. he had several people shouting into both ears in several languages. You may recall that Klitschko's almost negligible English failed him in the after fight interview. He just kept repeating the few English words he knew. He was really distraught. I was very sorry for him. A true warrior.

Stop talking such nonsensical hyperbole. He had an eyebrow cut, which looked bad because the camera made sure that we saw it in CLOSEUP all the time, and it was under control at the end of the 3rd round, before the 4th rd started, and didn't bother him at all. He won the last 2 rds on the cards so the fight being stopped because of that closed, not bleeding cut was WRONG.

The 2 cuts under the eye were like paper cuts, barely scratches. The pictures that some guys show here, are highly ENHANCED by computer, and are not what they really actually were, nothing at all, and none of them interfered with Klitschko's vision one little bit. This is BOXING, not ballet dancing. His EYE has nothing to do with his EYEBROW, and his eye was clear, and wide open all the time.

On another matter, that looks like a damn good picture of Micky Walker. Is that so??

I do give Klitchko credit for wanting to fight on, but the cut under his eye was so wide and deep you could have put your whole fist in there. Vit's eyeball was practically ready to pop out of his eye socket. Lennox can also hit like a mule.

And what's this crap about Vitali wanting to retire??? He's gonna retire for another 4 years and make a comeback again? What a joke. Want him to fight Toney instead of always ducking him like Jirov did for 4 years. Lewis has been inactive for over 5 years and Vitali knows Lewis won't come out of retirement after such a long absence from fighting. Klitchko got stopped, plain and simple by Lewis judging by the way Klitchkos face looked. It wasn't a close SD or controversial loss so get over it.

If Lennox kicked Vitali's ass, why not fight him again for big money and kick his ass again? Enquiring minds would like to know.

He stopped him, plain and simple! It wasn't a controversial decision or DSQ. Klitchko looked like Arnie in Terminator towards the end when his face gets ripped up. That's aggravated assault in the first degree. Lennox is done with him. You only get one shot at the Title.
