Its better for Pavlik if he fights carefully, especially in the first rounds or the same could happen to him what happened to Calzaghe, a knockdown.

I wish a video of the presser from yesterday would show up in full somewhere, but from I read Hopkins tried baiting Pavlik into better $250,000 on a KO haha...

I think that's a bit sad, it's like a veiled acceptance that he doesn't think he'll win, so he'll claim a moral victory.

Yea, I feel you...he doesn't seem as confident as he has in past fights. Normally he'd be talking about better on winning vs surviving.

I kind of want him to win because he's a massive underdog and it makes my boy look good. But he was far more confident of beating Joe and Nard is perceptive as they come. Hopefully he is playing everyone.

^^That could be true. Or he just wanted Pavlik to take the bet so that he would TRY for the KO the entire fight (which I'm sure hopkins believes would work to his advantage).

Ding Ding...We got a winner! That is exactly what Bernard was trying to goad Pavlik into. Pavlik laughed it off and said no way. If a knockout comes, he will take it, but that this fight was just business as usual.

yup, and anyone familiar with pavlik knows he never plans on a ko. ifthey come, fine, but he says he trains for 12 rds, and fights accordingly until he has his oppt. hurt or tired!

Don't think for a second that Nard does not think he will win. His mindset does not see a loss coming. In fact he never accepts a loss even when one is given to him.

Bernard is just handling this one differently. He is basically trying to boost Pavlik's confidence so when Pavlik realizes he is in some deep water, he hopes it will make Pavlik unravel. If Pavlik expects a tough fight, Pavlik wins, If Pavlik expects easy pickins, well then Bernard has him where he wants him.

Bernard is using this approach, I think, because Pavlik has a different mindset than most other fighters. Pavlik would eat up that tough talk, laugh it off and than make Bernard pay in the ring, he will not intimidate pavlik with words. So Bernard is playing the nice guy in the hope he catches pavlik off guard.

I hope your right, I just want to see a nice even fight even if it is a snoozer. Because if nothing else it would be compelling to score the fight.
