    Loew: Pavlik will be careful

Kelly Pavlik’s trainer, Jack Loew, says his man will adopt a “carefully aggressive” approach against Bernard Hopkins, but that that will not curb any of his fighter’s effectiveness.

The duo meet in a catch-weight clash (170lbs) in the early hours of Sunday morning in Atlantic City, a fight which is LIVE on Setanta Sports.

The Executioner has never been stopped in his long and illustrious career, but Loew believes if the fight turns into a toe-to-toe scrap that could well change.

A knockout is not a priority for the Pavlik camp though, and Loew says the middleweight will be taking a measured approach to controlling the bout.

“We're going to be carefully aggressive,” said Loew, who has worked with The Ghost for 17 years.

"We're not dumb enough to think we're just going to throw one-twos right down the middle. If they think we are one-dimensional, they are wrong.

    "We've got an A, B and C plan. We'll adjust.

"But if Hopkins stands there and trade punches, it could be an early night."

The talk is gathering a nice pace ahead of the fight and Hopkins’ camp have been puring forth their own cries of war.

“I don't know their game plan, but at the start, Kelly is going to realise he's in there with a legitimate fighter,” said Hopkins’ trainer ****m Richardson.

“He's been in there against athletes who boxed a little bit. Bernard is all about fighting. That's it. None of that football or basketball stuff.”

This gives me a lot more faith in Pavlik winning actually. All the talk of going all out for a KO from the get go seemed risky and Hopkins best chance so I was 50/50.

This fight will do Pavliks boxing ability, and ring intelligence the absolute world of good. A post Hopkins Pavlik gives a much more tactical, intelligent performance against Calzaghe or any top guy I reckon.

I think it gives Hopkins more hope for me, Pavlik won't be able to outbox Hopkins. I would expect Pavlik to constantly pressure Hopkins as hes old now and getting on, I swear taking your time and being smart with Hopkins is playing into his hands? maybe im wrong i've never rated Pavlikt tho.

Why does everyone assume Pavlik will fight Hopkins the same way he fought Taylor and Miranda? I'm pretty sure they know what we know. Hopkins is only effective at capatalizing on his opponents mistakes.

Interesting, could be right to some extent. I read that as them trying to box more clever and safe however, not to try to out box Hopkins as a whole.

I'd probably be up for a bet on Pavlik now actually. Just knowing that he and his team is giving at least some consideration to the risks presented by Hopkins, and addressing them with different plans is enough for me. Hopkins would have to tag Pavlik perfect or a good few times to win this. With Kelly being more cautious than normal and Hopkins low work rate, I can't see it happening.

yeah that is Hopkins in a nutshell. I don't really like it, it's not really fighting it's anti-fighting.
