    10 Count Rule....

What do you guys think about the 10 count rule?

These days the ref's are too quick to call a fight, without giving a full 10 count.

Of course i agree with protecting the fighters, but still give them the decency and dignity to be counted out.

A TKO is completely different from a KO...There are several different ways to get a TKO, but there's only one way to get a KO. That's a fact.

Obviously if a fighter is knocked down and can't get up, don't call it...give a full 10 count. However, if a fighter gets up at the count of 4 and can't fight by all means stop the fight.

I just believe in preserving the whole history behind boxing. And giving a full 10 count is part of boxing history.

Before you know it, there will be no more Knock Outs, only TKO's just like the MMA craze....but i don't want to start a whole different debate about MMA vs. Boxing. Let's keep the two separate.

I agree with the concept, yet disagree with this part. If you know a fighter isn't going to get up, just wave the fight and get him medical attention as soon as possible. I love the brutality of a knockout, but I think its imperitive to keep the fighters safe too. Jmo.

That's it. A lot of TKO's could really be KO's if the ref counted to ten whilst watching a clearly ****ed boxer either sit there, attempt to move around - knowing he's ultimately not going to let them continue.

So whilst some may say these wins are less impressive as they go down as TKO, we can't allow that, which did happen in the old days.

Nobody is perfect. A ref's job is not easy and while we, as fans, want a good show... the single most important factor should be the boxer's health. I'd rather have ref's continue to stop fights too soon as opposed to too late.

And I'd hope everybody is on the same page with that.

I wish all refs would allow the fighter a full ten count if he even makes an effort to get up. The concept is simple; if he beats 10, examine his eyes, have him walk foward, if he's cool let him fight. If not, shut him down. Even if a KD looks brutal, the guy should get a chance if he's makin an effort to rise.
