It was Ricky's first fight in a 3-fight deal with HBO. The plan was to hype him up and gain some exposure in the U.S in order to set up a mega fight between him and Floyd. Had he lost to Collazo, those plans would've been scrapped!

Ridiculously easy fight to score. It was 6 rounds a piece, with Hatton getting an extra point for the early kd. Hatton wins by a point.

I don't remember anyone on these boards the day after the fight, even ol Bozonono and the usual Hatton haters, denying Hatton won.

What the fight did show, is that Hatton is not, and never will be, a welterweight. He should've learned from that fight and never fought above 140 again.

That as a sucka move that Big Show taught Floyd, he had to cheat to escape the unrelenting pressure of Hatton. A rematch with a fair ref would have ended by a Hatton TKO, around round 9-11 IMO
