I wanted Taylor to win that fight, but that was a great stoppage... Don't know how anyone could think other wise. I ain't going to blow smoke up anyones ass but I lost a bit of respect from Taylor when he lost to Pavlik. I picked him to beat Pavlik in the first fight, then I picked him in the second fight to beat Pavlik. And you know the story from there, I felt like Taylor had all the tools to beat Pavlik. I guess I was completely wrong, btw I can't wait for Taylor/Lacy even if Taylor destroys Lacy. I like Lacy more then Taylor though. But I like both.

No, it was a good stoppage, the way Taylor slumped down meant to me that he was pretty much out.

I do feel as if referees skimp on the count all-too frequently, but he truly appeared to be out in this case.

Smoger is a bad ref that allows fights to go on alot longer than they should. If it was Nady he would have called it off before he went down.

I thought so when I was watching it live, but I always hate to see a fight stopped.

That stoppage was at least as good as Castillo-Corrales I, which was a good stoppage itself. In both cases the guy gets completely knocked out, unconscious. There's no need for counts in those cases.

Steve Smoger is the best official in boxing in my opinion. When the man stops the fight, i have never disagreed with his decision. Taylor was done, and lifeless. He knew he was beat.

If there had been a count I don’t think Taylor would have beaten it. As someone in the forum wrote (or was it an article?) Taylor looked like a drunk 13 year old at 3:00 am.

Rob couldn't have gone on to win his bout but Jermaine certainly could have taken a knee and pulled out a better result.

Don't focus on the stoppage focus on the lack of mental awareness that JT had.
Taylor probably should've taken a knee after the first big right hand that stunned him, but you're talking about a guy who had been in 28 professional fights, five of them at the championship level, without a single knockdown. It was his first time in that situation and hopefully it will be a learning experience for him should he ever find himself in trouble again in the future.

I don't think it's fair to criticize him for a lack of mental awareness when it's more of an experience issue. Not to mention his mental awareness isn't going to be too good when he's getting his head smashed in by Pavlik.

Seriously? Taylor looked like he took 4 hots ones to the chest.

after the first KD if he get up, its just a matter of time until he will get KD again. 8 seconds is not enough to restore his balance and mind set to fight.
