    is chad dawson p4p material?

how do you rank him after he won the fight against tarver? any thoughts?

im sure 2 or 3 more fights IMO he would crack my top ten P4P list.

He's definitely a future pound for pound top 10, not right now though, a few more fights and performances like that one and he will be in mine.

Obviously, he has more work to do, but he shows plenty of promise. Gotta admire his speed, combo's, movement, etc, but as far as I'm concerned he lost to Glenn Johnson and his win over a faded Tarver doesn't say all that much.

I wouldn't rank him as being P4P #1 like Floyd suggested (far from it).

He is right on the fringe of the top 10 now IMO. If you look at his level of competition over his past 3 fights it is pretty impressive. Another similar win and I think he will come close to cracking it.

I agree with you, Chad is undefeated and although the Johnson fight was close Floyd had a close one with Castillo. So I wouldnt point to just the Johnson fight as proof of his shortcomings. He's knocking on the door of p4p and at lt heavy where the ranks are pretty thin all Chad can do is just keep beating who they put in front of him.

i have not seen the fight between him and glen johnson, but with the comments that i hear from the other posters, i think that he needs to polish his skills more. but based on the performance he just showed against tarver he can definitely beat any guy in that division.

LMAO @ floyd comments before the fight, what is his role now? the manager of dawson?

a better opponent would definitely up his credentials like b-hop,cal,pavlik may be even RJJ.

Hell yeah, he is well skilled, and a fun fighter to watch because of his hand speed and solid punching power. If he can put on a performance as well as he did last Saturday every time, I think he could probably be P4P 1 or close to it. But right now he isn't, Mayweather is talking out of his ass again.
