i think the person who would give cotto most problems is margarito due to his chin and fighting style...its too much...for majority of the fighters at 147, 140, and 154.

for cotto to win a rematch against margarito would be probably the hardest win he could ever earn in the ring.

beyond that a floyd mayweather would be cotto's SECOND toughest fight...yes...SECOND...not saying margarito is p4p better than floyd...its just the fighting style...it would be easier on cotto to fight floyd than margarito since floyd isnt as big of a puncher at 147 and due to the fact floyd chooses to BOX cotto rather than hunt him down and pound away like margarito.

outside of those two fighters there isnt anyone i would favor over cotto at this point in time.

cintron - cotto stops him within 11.
berto - cotto wins a UD
williams - cotto wins a split decision.

cotto is a hybrid (in my opinion) of a crafty boxer (we seen this in the first half of the fight against margarito and in the mosley fight) and a big power puncher...he's one of the premier body punchers of current times and can really put a hurting on you. he's not a one punch knockout artist but over the span of 12 rounds if he gets enough clean punches in he will make you quit.

his biggest flaw is defense (as we seen against margarito) he seemed to not have an answer to keep margarito away...he couldnt tie up on the inside to get a break...he couldnt control the speed of the fight...margarito pretty much determined the pace of the fight after the 6th-7th round.
Perfect Perfect! I couldnt say it better my self. Great post, I agree with everything you said. Great work men!!!!!!!!

I dont care who u are Tony Margarito will let u know uve been in a ****in fight! But i honestly see Cotto winning the rematch, he was great first time around but fell short, there was only a round and a half left in the fight remember and Cotto survived all that time with his nose damaged from the second. Injurys are part of the game and Tony did that too him so i cant take that away from him, but imagine Cotto not having that damage inflicted and most importantly Clinching from time to time, run out the clock, catch ur breath and stifle Margs attack all at the same time! Miguel was too proud first time around, he has since been humbled.
The body shots just aint there tho the wont have an effect in a rematch.
He is a smart guy and will know he needs to change a few things slightly, tough fight regardless tho! But Tony is Tony and he cant and wont improve on that performance.

Williams worrys me the most honestly

As stated many times before, a lot of trash-talking goes on, but c'mon...how can you NOT show up on these boards on the day after the fight?
It was absolute mayhem! How many threads started with: "Cotto got whooped/beaten/massacred, etc" after Cotto/Margarito?

I like Cotto, he's exciting to watch. Antonio Margarito won me over as well, he definitely deserves big matches after that impressive performance.

Having said that, I dunno about the match-ups. I certainly hope Cotto isn't notably affected after that fight. But I'll be watching, and Margarito as well...

Who do u think beats cotto? Or even better which fight at WW worrys u the most as a Cotto fan? Margarito

A Rematch with the only man to have beaten him and reigning champ Antonio Margarito? very very hard to do it for cotto.. due to the size advantage... margo takes 8 of 10 times... only way i can see cotto beating margo is by D.. and he better learn how to clinch

Ageing veteren Shane Mosley who some feel one their first duel? One of my fav all time...a classy guy... great experience for cotto though.

The super lanky freak of nature Paul Williams who has apparently found his punch? If he can make the weight i dont see a problem with that!..I think margarito will beat him in the rematch

The Thunderous punching Kermit Cintron? I havent give up on him yet...I think he needs a better management team.

The Young stud with the fast hands, untested Andre Berto?\
paper champ.... hes as green as his belt...

Or someone else at the weight, discuss....
you mentioned all the worthy one... I cant think of anybody else.. at least right now...

          nice thread!
