I'd like to see Hopkins KO Taylor, but that won't happen. This fight would suck more than the 1st 2 and there's no point even if they both win their next fight.

I agree....WHEN Hopkins shock 90% of the boxing community by beating Pavlik, he should retire!

if hopkins pulls a downright miracle and beats a young pavlik then you'd have to think a rematch is the only logical solution...

i HIGHLY DOUBT pavlik and team wouldnt do anything they could to get a rematch in hopes of proving it was a fluke win by hopkins...

so mattering on the outcome of a rematch it would force a trilogy between hopkins and pavlik...pretty much ending hopkins' career...he's 43 now...by the time the next two fights would take place hopkins would be pushing 45...sending him into retirement no matter if he wins or losses the trilogy.

if the thread starter's predicament is that hopkins will beat pavlik then IMO there's no more sense in arranging a trilogy because b-hop did beat the conqueror of taylor. thats just me though

Yes, but he never decisively beat Taylor.

Besides, beating someone's "conquerer" doesn't mean very much, especially in this case since you'd have a triangle theory nightmare that looks like this:

Pavlik beat Taylor who beat Hopkins
Hopkins beat Pavlik who beat Taylor
Taylor beat Hopkins who beat Pavlik

I really don't see a point in having a third fight.

Calzaghe could go after Taylor but I don't see much interest there on his part now that Taylor has two losses.

Then again, a tarnished resume didn't stop Calz from taking the RJJ fight... Taylor doesn't offer the same legacy, though. Taylor doesn't really offer anything that Joe's interested in, I don't think...

The only thing that might sell that fight is if Jermain makes Joe's ass-whipping of Jeff Lacy look like child's play, which is a tall order.
Yeah Taylor could actually KO Lacy that would be more impressive then Joe's beating he threw Lacy. I seem to remember no one has KO'd Lacy yet....Lefty

I rather see Taylor fight Pavlik again then see him fight Hopkins. Even if pavlik losses and Taylor wins this wuld still be an intersting fight. It might not be the next fight for Taylor after Lacy but I would hope this happens before Hopkins relatch....Lefty

If RJJ looks old and shot against Calzaghe, nobody is going to care about a Hopkins/Jones rematch. End of story.
