Let's not be too hard on poor Sam Peter...

People are calling Sam Peter a quitter and ridiculing him for his performance against Vitali.

How many people could do any better with Vitali's quick, hard jabs and hooks peppering them in the face for 8 rounds? I think poor Sam did the best he could.

I have only one criticism of Sam Peter - he would have been a better heavyweight if he kept his weight down at 235 or so. He carried 20 unnecessary pounds around in the ring, and that surely slowed him down and affected his stamina.

Sam is a nice guy, as we could see after the fight when he was a good sport and warmly congratulated Vitali. Watch this video of him singing a song thanking Jesus in a post fight-interview:

Im dont blame him for quitting...
Getting his head punched in he was couldnt do fcuk all about it
He was plodding around the ring and getting dismantled....

He kind of sucks, I think Sanders and Williams put up a better fight plus those fighters even hit vitali with some good shots but Vitali has an iron chin. And Vitali's defense looks like it improved over time so peter did fight a harder vitali probably... Vitali's defense has always been pretty good except in the lennox lewis fight where he started to brawl with lewis, if he had box that night he'd probably would have won. But Vitali is one of those fighters who don't mind getting punched because it doesn't really effect him.

but whatever, i would never hate on a boxer for any decision they make. its a rough game, if u do it in the first place that gets u enough respect to not be questioned...

The only thing is him being a puncher should of took his chances up until the last second..Even though he wasnt knocking VK out he still should of took that gamble..

So why bother to take an extra 4 rounds of beating?

i think retiring is a bad move, he just has a style that most good boxers wil beat..
