    Time for Tarver to retire?

I say yes. He's well past it. His last two fights prervious to tonight were indicative of it. He should retire or stick to old guys.

The funny thing is that he would have had a better shot two years ago when he should have fought him.

He could still fight Johnson for a third time.

But I agree that it's better for Tarver to retire, there aren't many options for him. He did not seem like he is considering retirement though during the post-fight interview.

Saoul Mamby fought when he was 60.

He should fight as long as he wants to, as long as he enjoys it.

Just don't think he's got it left in him to be a champ again.

If it weren't for fighters not knowing when to quit, we wouldn't have these up and comers with great records based on has-beens.

I think it's better that he retire now but he can still fight on if he wants to, he can still compete with the top guys in the division I think.

why in the hell would he retire? boxing fans are obsessed with retiring. Tarver looked fine tonight. I doubt hed ever end up the best at L Heavyweight, but its not impossible for him to win another title. at the very worst, he could be a stepping stone for another rising talent...which is a good thing.

a fighter should retire when theyve taken too much damage in their career or when they start to lose to low level competition. that is not Tarver.

I can't help by being reminded how often Tarver was said to look gassed and tired .. by the Santena announcer

in the later rounds (8, 9, 10) he threw a bit too many pitter patter punches.
