I would be shocked if Pavlik did not taste the canvas. Hop still has some real pop in his right hand and will land it as he has great timing still early in a fight.
Hopkins Is Being Underestimated, Pavlik Hyped

Bernard is gonna be sitting and waiting all night on his counter right hand. He'll be holding and using his "dirty" tactics in the meantime. Kelly will be pressuring for 12 straight rounds and I can't see, at 35 punches per round on average, doing ANYTHING that can put Pavlik in danger of losing this fight. Bernard will have to do something ALOT different than he has in his last few fights. My contention is that, if JC had more power and threw straighter more accurate punches, he would of won their fight convincingly and possibly gotten a stoppage. The fact of the matter is, that if Kelly Pavlik beats Hop, which he will and I'm betting by KO, he will make JC look bad, REALLY bad. The fans of JC have NO CHOICE but to "never count him out" and to say he's "still a dangerous opponent." While some of these theories are still very true, make no mistake here fellas - Hop is an ever aging 43yo who is in there against a prime, strong, accurate, straight puncher who throws a ton of them and who will give no respect and walk him down all night. You tell me, based on what I said, what Hopkins can do, minus become this monster puncher/super workrate, that can possibly have him winning this fight? I see counters coming, but didn't most all of his last few opponents? His best fight, IMO, was the win over Tarver. IF, and it's a big IF, he can come in with the same mentality and overall performance he did on that night, THEN we can talk about a truly competitive fight. I will find it very hard to believe he still has those fights left in him. As I said all along, Pavlik by KO.Comment

How will a Pavlik stoppage "make Calzaghe look bad"? Pavlik is a power puncher whereas Calzaghe is a decision merchant, ergo Calzaghe was always likely to have to box Hopkins to a decision, whereas Pavlik, if he is the real deal has more pop on his punches and thus has more chance of a stoppage. These are just facts. Of course, one thing that a Pavlik stoppage would do is as I said, prove he is the real deal and strengthen his case for a Calzaghe fight.
Based on what you said, Hopkins would have no chance. However it is not at all certain that Pavlik will be able to "walk him down all night". Nobody ever managed to do that but Calzaghe, and we are yet to see if Pavlik has the chin to do the same. To win the fight Hopkins has to make Kelly cautious and then use his superior timing to prevent Pavlik from landing and land counters himself. Whether he can or not remains to be seen, but if he can, he can win. While some of these theories are still very true, make no mistake here fellas - Hop is an ever aging 43yo who is in there against a prime, strong, accurate, straight puncher who throws a ton of them and who will give no respect and walk him down all night. You guys will be surprised at how easy Hopkins slips and counters Pavlik all night long....Calzaghe landed at will because hes blazing fast...Pavlik is the complete opposite...not to mention the new weight class..
I got Hopkins in an easy clininc...UD....or late stoppage.Comment

Calzaghe didn't land at will at all. In fact, he barely landed. Most of the clean punches came from Hopkins but he barely threw any.You guys will be surprised at how easy Hopkins slips and counters Pavlik all night long....Calzaghe landed at will because hes blazing fast...Pavlik is the complete opposite...not to mention the new weight class..

The flip side is, if someone as active and fast as Calzaghe was barely able to land, what's Pavlik's plan?Comment

No...Calzaghe landed....it was just bull**** arm punches....thats why the compubox numbers were so huge....they count those.....Pavliks not fast enough to even get those shots...Pavlik wil get countered alot and might get dropped a couple times.Comment

No...he really didn't land. Arm punches or not. Granted, in the later rounds he landed some solid clean lefts but for the most part those compubox numbers were some of the biggest BS numbers I'd seen in a while.Comment

popkins conditioning and agility training prolly took front row this camp...sparring...bad work prolly back burner...pavlik is an easy target...and popkins mobility and footwork ...slipping ability and overall ability to avoid punches is still excellent....I see popkins potshotting the robotic pavlik for the first 5 rounds...taking 3 or 4 rounds off to recover clinching...inside fighting...and finishing strong last 3-4Comment
