I hear everyone's argument on this thread, about Tyson being able to beat Lennox, and I probably would've argued along the same lines until I heard Tyson say that.

Ali said the same thing about Tyson...
Does that mean he wouldnt beat Tyson?

Lewis wouldnt of had a chance to use his power in Tysons prime
he would of brutally been knocked spark out...

I take it as: Tyson knows Tyson more than WE know Tyson.

btw - not to discredit you, cause you might be right, but Ali submitting to anyone sounds out of his character. Where and when did you hear him say that Tyson would've beat him?

Tyson. Yes, it would be a bad style match-up, but come one - back when he was kid dynamite, KO in vintage Tyson fashion.

Lewis KO late rounds, Tyson has never proved that when it comes to over coming adversity against an elite fighter he can win.

Lewis keeps Tyson off his with ajbs and straight rights and Tyson cannot get into his rhythm ro get inside past Lewis long reach. Whenever it does look like Tyson is getting inside Lewis' uppercuts push him back. He takes Tyson into deep water and stop him in the late rounds. Tyson despite what many say has rubbish stamina past the early rounds compared to other elite fighters, he couldn't stop Smith and fought a clinchy boring fight.

Other guys like Tillis, Green and Ruddock all managed to get the final bell. Lewis doesn't need to Uppercuts stop Tyson in the 9th round

Those are TYSON'S own words. He said so in an interview.
It might've been on the special features of this dvd:
                http://www.biggsports.com/servlet/th...de-with/Detail

Tyson said, Lewis was "just too big & strong"

I'm a BIG Tyson fan, and would've argued against this if I hadn't heard it from Tyson himself.
I hate these points. Its fighters showing respect, Ali said Tyson could of beaten him. Can u see a prime Ali saying Tyson would beat him? Could u see a prime tyson saying anyone could beat him? These points are utter rubbish.

I don't how much this is false modesty TBH.
He also says his career ended with the Buster Douglas loss.I would say his career ended with his win over Michael Spinks in 1988.Think about that for a moment...See,I disagree with him.

The thing is with Lewis is that he was absolutely brilliant at using his height and size and safety first defense to neutralise a fighter, who was relatively open and stationary or with a sub-par jab.He had awesome offensive tools and if he didn't want to be hurt he could often block and make the punches fall short, using to advantage his height and reach.

However,he couldn't do both very well. Why? Because,he couldn't time his punches very well. His jab and lead punches were never thrown with total authority(that incidentally is why I don't think he could hit prime Tyson clean with the lead uppercut-his vulnerability) and he couldn't fight well going backwards.I think he consciously didn't want to develop this part of his game, because he has piss-poor trainer early in his professional career and the fact he was frightened to be hit after the trauma of the McCall knockout. His felt psychological comfort from a total safety first style ,pure offensive and pure defensive game.I don't think they totally came together and he had to use his grit to get out of jail with Mercer and let Holyfield off the hook in their first fight. He prospered because of the deterioration, predictability and lack of simple fundamentals of his opponents.

Tyson had a superior jab and incredible counterpunching skills, which came from an ability to effectively time an opponent with his punches. With his pressure and ability to make an opponent miss Tyson created openings as well as exploited them.True,if a bigger powerful opponent was passive and not throwing punches he could last the distance, but that is no way to win a fight. In short, Tyson was one dimensional fighter-unlike Lewis. But also, unlike Lewis' he had a totally integrated fighting system.

Well Ali was fcuked at the time and it was half heartdly said but i saw him say it twice and the one is on youtube T-9 posted it up recently
Not using it to debate just simply saying what Tyson says now would of been a complete different thing to when he had half a brain left..
