Pavlik: "What Happens When Hopkins Gets Hit Flush?"

WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik wants to become the first man to knock Bernard Hopkins out when the two fighters clash at the catch-weight of 170-pounds, on October 18 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. He says a knockout of Hopkins will make for a major statement. [details]

"i can eat more, i will have more energy and snap on my punches"

Kelly said the same for the taylor rematch @ 166.

IMO, he looks much much better at 160 and that is his ideal weight.

What happens when Hopkins gets hit flush? Does ANYBODY know?

Honestly, if Kelly comes into the ring too heavy on fight night, he's screwed. Training camp is easier when you dont ahve to make as much weight, but look at Winky Wright in the Hopkins fight. He came in right at 170, looked slow and lethargic. Hopkins has a trick up his sleeve, I can feel it. The only real trick I thought he had for the Calzaghe fight was his "Dream Team", which I immediately thought would increase his stamina. But being that he's 43, that assumption wasn't very true.

Pavlik better not loose to this old man(boxing age). He comes away looking less than superb then its a problem.

pavlik being overconfident could be bernards greatest advantage.

I think Hopkins is getting knockedout for the first time. i think Pavlik being in his prime and awesome power will in the late rounds be too much for Hopkins who is still an awesome genius defensive fighter but he is getting upthere! But seriously i cant even remember the last time Hopkins ever got hit flush...

I realy think this fight is going to be boring. Pavlik will chase BHop around the ring and Bernard will throw 10 punches a round. It will be like most Hopkins fights. Hopkins will hang in there, never really get hurt, land enough to win 4 or 5 rounds, and lose a close decision. Of course he'll say he won and the judges are blind. The problem for Bernard in his later years is that they don't count not getting hit a lot as a way to win. You have to throw to win.
