he is. coz if he wasn't he wouldn't be popular right now and the most exciting fighter. smart is used in many ways. some are smart on the defensive and some are smart being the aggressor.

Smart in the ring by doin what he does best. He can box against slower guys like Solis, Velasquez, and Diaz. He knows he's gotta slug against everybody else tho. I'd say he's a smart fighter when he has to be. $ wise, the DLH fight is genius, but physically it's ****in ****** tho.

Well, anyone who isn't smart seldom become anything in life, sports, etc. The Pacman is of course intelligent in the ring or else he would be an absolute nobody in this sport. Just a thought.

Yes he is considering that he showcased it in the Diaz fight. He used different punches from all kinds of angles effectivesly.

He might not be able to show case his smarts in the ring as well against more technically advanced opponents like JMM (Who he certainly didn't beat by just bull rushing in) but the fact is that he showed how well he can think in the ring Like in the 10th round of Pac - JMM 2 where he almost KDd JMM for the second time.

He has also shown that he can follow game plans and instructions from his coach.

So yeah he is a smart fighter...

definitely not a smart fighter in my book, just very very very very talented. he makes horrendous decisions in the ring. he looks clueless at times in there with Marquez when he should just blitz the guy and put him on his ass. every time Pacquiao went after Marquez he either hurt him or put him on the canvas in both fights. he's an extremely dumb fighter in my book, but I love him

There's a reason why he's an exciting fighter like the Gatti's and the Tyson's......he's not very smart in the ring. He has a do or die attitude coupled with natural athletic abilities.
