hatton has talent, but he's been costing on his mma talent for a while.LAS VEGAS – World-class junior welterweight Paulie “The Magic Man” Malignaggi (25-1, 5 KOs) took some time off from his Las Vegas TRAINING CAMP to offer his views on subject ranging from his November 22nd showdown against Ricky Hatton to abdicating his IBF title and a lot in between. No way. Hatton has a limited workrate and his defense has always been terrible. Taking nothing from him but I would have picked Paulie to beat him before Floyd did. The matchup is all wrong for him. Only way it could be worse is if Paulie was taller than him.Comment

Malinaggi....
I didn't realize that Malinaggi can really box. I don't think he has power, but his boxing skills are tremendous. Ricky Hatton is a scrappy fighter, so Paul Malinaggi will have to box him into a circle.
I'll say this though....if Miguel Cotto couldn't knock Paul Malinaggi out, then there's no way that Hatton would knock him out....
I'm giving this fight to Paulie Malinaggi, by unanimous decsion.Comment

Not sure he has better footwork larry and both are quick but Hatton maul's his victims and always look messy in doin so..
Still i think the Hitman shall prevail..
Wonder what haircut paulie is thinking of in this one?
A mullet anyone?Comment

At the same time, people also have to stop using bull**** triangle theories regarding the Cotto fight. Yeah Paulie performed admirably, no doubt but just cos Cotto couldn't stop him, doesnt mean Hatton wont.
Hatton is a much better 140lb fighter than Cotto. Cotto had to be carried out of the weigh in for the Malignaggi fight because he was so drained. You could see he was sluggish and slow in his performance, at one point Paulie even stunned him with a right hand! Hatton is quicker, will cut down the ring more efficiently than Cotto did and put much more pressure on Paulie than Cotto did.Comment

"You can't teach dogs new tricks."
Erm, yes you can Paul, and the saying is you can't teach old dogs new tricks.
"He can teach him a few things"
Wow, got a saying wrong then contradicted it, what a couple of lines, lol.
I'm hoping for a good fight but think Hattons going to take this relatively easily, just a gut feeling. Mayweathers been on Hattons TV program in the UK lately live, and christ how many drugs has that guy taken, he can barely string a sentence together. No wonder he's going on about slowing Ricky down. Ricky's always waiting for him to finish an instruction.
Needless to say I still have concerns about the efficiency of Hattons training, hopefully the 2nd trainer is involved a lot and their not undermining each other too much, otherwise you'll see a Khan esk confused fighter in there.Last edited by Kris Silver; 10-08-2008, 01:41 PM.Comment
