Keep dreaming if you think Disney will use the money saved from WNF and pour it into FNF. Friday Night Fights will stay the same with no increase in budget, just my guess.

Overall, with FNF, WNF, and ESPN Classic showing boxing fights, we couldn't ask more from ESPN in its support of boxing. As long as ESPN Classic still shows old fights and, as it did this year, a few new live or tape delayed fights, we can live without WNF.

I do think the Friday Night Fights announcing team is one of the best duos in the business, and if there is a downside it's the loss of hearing them call fights twice a week.

I always felt that Friday Night Fights did an amazing job every week. Operating on a minimal budget they always managed to put together mostly competitive fights, and at the same time we got to see some new talent be developed (Allan Green for example).

That was one of the best ESPN fights I have seen.

Wright-Frazier was on there a long time ago for the vacant IBF 154 title... that would be pretty sweet to get something like that on these days.

no one ever fights for a title on ESPN nowadays. its a real shame. I remember when Juan Diaz was defending his title on FNFs...now those were the days.

but instead, fighters are dumb and choose to have their fights not televised at all/televised to a very limited audience. that makes sense, right?

Ive always liked FNFs and WNFs. and right before the season ended they were doing great. Columbians were getting KO upsets over people left and right, Vera KOed Andy Lee(whatever happened to him...one loss and no one cares anymore) and they had some good fights on too...just not high profile all the time.
honestly, a lot of the time I like FNFs more than PPV matches...mostly because they were free, but still.

Someone like Cory Spinks should have done the ESPN thing instead of an internet stream that did not work very well.

A lot of these Euro champs who want to make a name for themselves could benefit by kicking some ass on ESPN once in a while.

Sergei Dzinruzek (mutilated the spelling of that name, but it's all good), you could be first!

whats almost depressing is that if a fight is being featured on FNFs, no one will care about it, and automatically will write it off even if it involves really good fighters.

like Sakio Bika vs. Lucian Bute. people would be all over that fight if it was on HBO, but not many people cared about it just because it was on FNFs. what the hell.
Prescott the Khaner was on FNFs too, but nope, no one cared about him then. And now hes being heralded as this amazing power puncher, but if they saw him on FNFs, theyd have seen how mediocre he really is.

and I dont get people like Steve Moliter. I would love to see him on FNFs, but instead he fights in Canada and only gets to be seen by Canadians. he would have been great on FNFs, and could have been seen by Canadians at the same time. and there are a lot of fighters like him that could do great on FNFs, but instead fight in their home country where only a limited amount of people could see them. a real shame.

Molitor would actually be the perfect candidate to make a US name through ESPN.

They have shows in Canada all the time.

It's just really irritating that at some point, the good fighters decided to say **** ESPN, causing more good fighters to say **** ESPN. ESPN is almost viewed as a plague now, because no good fighters are supposed to fight there.

And things like what Allan Green said about ESPN doesn't particularly help either... "No more ESPN fights." Great job Allan... prick.
