what if: Vargas vs. Cotto @ 154

the Fernando Vargas that fought Trinidad in 2000,

    versus

    the Cotto that fought Margarito.

except the fight would be at 154, where Cotto has never been.

Size advantage goes to Vargas, experience goes to Cotto, since this is the year 2000, young 20-0 Vargas (who gave an experienced, undefeated prime Trinidad some problems, even knocked him down. also beat a prime Ike Quartey, before he lost to Trinidad), and the 2008 July Cotto (32-0 before losing to Marg)

We don't know how Cotto would look at a different weight class, so I would side in the naturally bigger and harder hitter in Vargas.

Given that Cotto has never been to and looks a little small for 154 I am going to go with Vargas. Too strong for Miguel at 154 IMO. WOuld be a good fight though. Good match-up.

Hard to say how Cotto does at 154 but if he carries up his power and speed, I'd give him a good chance at winning.

Agreed. It completely depends on how his body reacts at 154. I think he's definitely more talented than Vargas though.

                  More talented in what way?

                  Better body puncher: No
                  Better Footwork: No
                  Better Boxer: No
                  Defense: No
                  Chin: No
                  Stamina: Same
                  Power: No
                  Movement: No
                  Speed: Same
                  Accuracy: A big NO!

Simple, there is NOTHING Cotto can do better then Vargas. But BUT! If Cotto continues to improve the way he was been improving he will get there.

I won't take that away from Cotto. He just gets better and better
