I'll clear this up.
In 1996 The #1 and the #2 LHW's deemed by ring magazine squared off to unify the WBA and IBF titles. Their names: Virgil Hill and Henry Maske. Chups' argument seems to imply that the #1 and #2 fighters in Ring Magazine have to face off in order to become the linear champion. Well that happened. Hill won so he should become the ring champ right? Well that would've been the case, but they didn't award belts that time. From 1991-2001, the Ring stopped awarding belts. What ensued next was this:
Hill < DM < J.C. Gonzalez < Erdei
As much as you don't like Erdei, he beat the guy who beat the guy, etc.
RJJ, however, won a interim title against Mike McCallum so he never actually beat the WBC LHW titlist. When DM beat Hill he held 3 belts, the WBA IBF WBO. But he vacated the WBA and IBF (for what reason I don't know, but that's another story altogether). So RJJ just picked up the belts left behind from DM and the Ring Magazine just awarded him their belt.Comment

I pretty much went over all of this already and was called an idiot for being so right.I'll clear this up.
