Did you see how quick he got up from that knockdown? I don't think he was close to being out, I just think it was the first time in his career he was legitimately tested. His chin, IMO, was tested by Miranda who threw everything he had at him and Kelly walked through it. I think every fighter needs the "Taylor experience" at some point to give them an indication of their limits. 7 is what I voted but in my heart, I know it's higher.
Some ref.'s would have stopped the fight though.
He was down against Zuniga as well. (I admit I havent seen that fight). Zuniga didn't give Inkin any trouble at all. So to me Pavlik's chin is a little suspect. Of course he took some crude bombs from Miranda though.
i ment to vote 8...but i unintentionally picked 9.
i think pavlik has a great chin...
if fell apart against taylor, true...
but guys like miranda just let those fists fly and we know what guys like miranda are capable of (note: the david banks fight) and pavlik didnt ever even really seem hurt.
i think its pretty top quality in terms of chins in today's fighters...especially for the amount of times pavlik gets hit when he goes toe to toe with these punchers...
I put 6 because we havent really seen him chin-checked, until the 1st Taylor fight and while his recovery could be 7-8-9-10 his chin isnt. IMO he is the best MW and SMW but its the guys at 175, Dawson, Johnson, Jones and Hopkins that will show what he really has! This is the year of upsets could a Hopkins victory be the Upset of the Year!
Seeing that his style is so offensive and he brawls a lot, he takes a LOT of punishment, and he can take hits pretty damn well so I would rate it a 8-9.
