Yep. This is the "Per Capita" stat that they hate to acknowledge. They wait til a Mexican beats a Puerto Rican to start feeling like they run boxing. When their Mexican fighters lose to a Puerto Rican, they just bring up the 70s with Sanchez beating the smaller Gomez. Selective memories.Comment

So with this logic we should only compare countries with the same amount of population... "but but they have way more people then us"... If we were rivals with china on this boxing tip you think we would be crying that they have more people then us?... PatheticComment

Often I hear excuses for the USA's performance in the Olympics, because we have more people than all but 2-3 other countries.Comment

So, give respect where it is due. A true fan of boxing knows the huge impact that the tiny island of PR has had on the sport.Comment

its a huge disparity... Puerto Rico is a tiny island that has produced a major part of boxing's history. Its not up for opinions, its fact- Per capita, PR is has produced more champions and high quality fighters than ANY other country. Manny Steward has said this, Larry Merchant, George Foreman... to name a few.
