Will Vitali be able to deal with Peter's rabbit punches?
I've noticed in all his fights, Sam Peter aims for the back of his opponents' heads. He's not the only fighter who does it, but he's the only one who uses rabbit punches as his main offensive weapon.
Vitali, when he was younger, was very good at quickly leaning back and avoiding looping punches like the ones Peter throws. He was unusually athletic for a man his size, and had excellent reflexes. But after four years of inactivity and being age 37 now, will he still be able to avoid a fast haymaker like before? Peter is shorter, but they have about the same reach.
Peter will try to pursue him into a corner and hit him behind the head, like he did to Wladimir. I'm wondering whether Vitali will be able to avoid those rabbit punches? His height and stand-up style will help, but Peter usually goes for the back of the head when he's infighting or has his opponent trapped along the ropes.
I just watched Benn vs. McClellan. The referee in that fight was letting Benn get away with hitting McClellan behind the head whenever he was in close, similar to what Peter does. Hopefully the referee on Saturday be more responsible than the idiot who worked the Benn-McClellan fight.
