Calzaghe is superchamp. Kessler regular champ. Someone please explain.

I think they came up with this idea (Regular champ and Super Champ) as a way to gain more money. But never thought about a situation where the Super Champ is stripped of his other titles, leaving 2 "Regular" champs.
They may try to order a Calzaghe-Kessler rematch to decide who the "real" champ is I guess, which Calzaghe would probably turn down and be stripped.
But really, it's so ******ed that we should even have to discuss something like this, it shows how lame the WBA really is

Only problem is that the 'super'champ is allowed 18 months between mandatories. So that gives Joe untill next summer really.Comment

I'm pretty sure by not holdin any more alphabet titles, Joe C is no longer the super champ at 168. There ain't one anymore. Kessler is the WBA regular champ and there is no super champ. I think that's how they do it, but it's ****** and confusin as ****.Comment

this wba sanctioning body crap has all to do with money.WBA has a policy of elevating their champion to 'super'champion if he wins one of the other major belts. Hence Calzaghe became superchampion when he defeated Mikkel Kessler.
Since then Joe has either vacated or been stripped of his other titles. So now he only holds the WBA strap.
So my question is: How can Kessler be regular champ and Calzaghe the superchamp?
more sanctioning fees if either wants to keep the regular and super belt.Comment

i believe the way it works is the wba won't match kess with cal at all because then they wont get fees from both just from one.and they both now have different manditories if they want to keep their belt.I think they came up with this idea (Regular champ and Super Champ) as a way to gain more money. Calzaghe is now a light heavyweight. He should no longer be the super champ at 168 because he vacated the titles he held.Comment
